  • Patent number: 5924992
Abstract: A needle guide having a semi-compliant shell design and locating means for attachment to an ultrasound transducer. The needle guide improves over the prior art in its reduced complexity, its low-profile formed fit to the transducer, a positive guide locking feature when the needle holding pin is in the closed position, and its ease of attachment over a sterile cover. The improved design is conducive to low-cost manufacturing methods which employ materials that can be autoclaved, gas-sterilized, or liquid disinfected.

  • Patent number: 5810733
Abstract: A method of encapsulating an ultrasound transducer assembly probe is disclosed. The encapsulation forms a seamless casing around the entire transducer probe assembly resulting in sealed leak-proof probe conducive to sterilization by immersion in a disinfectant liquid. The encapsulation method of the present invention simplifies the manufacturing process by eliminating several processing steps such as backpotting, welding, backfilling, and strain relief closing of the multiple component prior art construction. The method provides for device that is less expensive to produce, easily repaired and/or upgraded, more reliable, feels more comfortable to the user, and the patient and lends itself readily for mass production.

  • Patent number: 5739504
Abstract: A control system for use with a boiler and associated burner. In one embodiment, the system comprises a first control circuit for producing a signal having alternating first and second states, the first state activating the burner and having a first predetermined duration, the second state deactivating the burner and having a second predetermined duration that defines a time period that allows foam and surging fluid in the boiler to settle, and a relay responsive to the first control circuit signal and adapted for connection to a power source and the burner, when the first control circuit signal has the first state, the relay connects the power source to the burner to activate the burner, when the first control circuit signal has the second state, the relay disconnects the power source from the burner to deactivate the burner.

  • Patent number: 5622506
Abstract: An avionic connector interface distribution unit interfaces a central controller with a plurality of avionic devices. The distribution unit comprises a large avionic connector (16), a mother input/output (I/O) printed wiring board (18), first and second daughter I/O printed wiring boards (20, 22), first and second parallel headers (28, 30) formed of matable connector pairs, and a plurality of miniature connectors (14). The mother board (18) includes first and second planar surfaces, and each of the daughter boards (20, 22) includes first and second planar surfaces. The first and second daughter boards (20, 22) are generally co-planar and adjacent to each other, and these daughter boards (20, 22) are parallel to the mother board (18). The second surface of the mother board (18) faces the first surfaces of the daughter boards (20, 22). The first header (28) is situated between and mounted to the second surface of the mother board (18) and the first surfaces of the first daughter board (20).

  • Patent number: 5582014
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for recycling a halocarbon composition which generally removes a halocarbon composition from a first source to purify the halocarbon composition and injects the halocarbon composition to a second source. The present invention is particularly useful for recovering and recharging of a commonly used halocarbon composition, Halon 1301. The invention comprises a first line having a first and second end where the first end of the first line is connected to the first source. The first source has the halocarbon composition contained therein. A vapor recovery unit connects to the second end of the first line for permitting the halocarbon composition to be transported from the first source to the vapor recovery unit for compression. A second line connects the vapor recovery unit to a recovery bottle. The recovery bottle is cooled by a cooling system integrally connected thereto for separating the nitrogen from the halocarbon composition.

  • Patent number: 5425169
Abstract: A tool for removal and insertion of a backplane or other electrical member with respect to a housing comprises a frame which can be fixed with respect to the housing and a carriage which can be connected to the electrical member. The carriage is guided in floating relation with respect to the frame and is movable in a first direction to remove the electrical member and in a second direction to insert the electrical member. Fixing the frame with respect to the housing prevents movement of the frame away from the housing, thereby enabling application of force to the carriage sufficient to overcome resistance to insertion of the electrical member.
