  • Patent number: 5787677
Abstract: A garage door insulation system includes a garage door having a major surface, an insulation layer of mineral fiber insulating material having a major surface, and an asphalt layer positioned between the major surfaces of the garage door and the insulation layer. The asphalt layer provides sound damping for the garage door. Preferably the asphalt layer acts as an adhesive to bond the insulation layer to the garage door. In a preferred embodiment, the major surface of the garage door is contoured, and the asphalt layer and insulation layer are deformable to the contour of the garage door.

  • Patent number: 5724780
Abstract: A metal building roof structure includes a plurality of purlins in a parallel arrangement in which the purlins have a generally vertical leg and a generally horizontal top leg. An insulation support sheet depends from the horizontal legs of adjacent purlins, and a purlin cap, having a horizontal top portion, is positioned on top of the horizontal top leg of the purlin. The purlin cap also has two generally vertical portions extending downwardly from the horizontal top portion and is placed over the insulation support sheet so that the two vertical portions of the purlin cap cause the insulation support sheet to substantially conform to the shape of the vertical leg of the purlin, thereby defining an insulation area having deep corners to enable the full thickness of the insulation material to be used.

  • Patent number: 5261622
Abstract: Apparatus for paying out bisected insulation material includes a cradle for holding a supply roll of bisected insulation material, a rewind shaft for rerolling a second layer of the supply roll as a first layer of the supply roll is payed out, and mounting means for the rewind shaft adapted to enable the rewind shaft to move in a plane at an angle to the vertical as the relative sizes of the supply roll and the rewind roll change, where the angle is within the range of from about 25 to about 75 degrees from the vertical.
