  • Patent number: 4561589
Abstract: The assembly is made up of four components. First is a rectangular, steel base plate designed to lie between the rail and the tie structure. The plate has a hole near each end. The second component is a clip that holds the rail to the base plate. The third and fourth components are a pair of anchoring devices, one for each end of the base plate. Each anchoring device has three parts. The first part is a steel base member having a first end that is nearest to the rail, a second end that is opposite the first end and extends at least to the adjacent end of the base plate, and a middle section joining the first and second ends. A flange-headed hook projects upwardly from the first end of the base member. The first end of the base member fits in the hole in the base plate so as to interlock the base plate with the anchoring device, like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. The flanged head of the hook overlaps part of the base plate, so as to hold it down.

  • Patent number: 4312477
Abstract: A railroad fastener assembly is provided for securing a rail in place. The rail fastener assembly includes a base plate, at least two rail locator members, formed integrally with the base plate and located on opposite sides of the rail for locating the rail in position relative to the base plate, at least two clip holders formed integrally with the base plate; and a resilient clip associated with each clip holder for engaging the base flange of the rail to secure the rail in place. The resilient clips each comprise an elongate substantially planar member including a rail engaging, proximal end. The clip holders each include an aperture through which the associated clip extends and which defines a fulcrum for the clip.

  • Patent number: 4062490
Abstract: A rail fastening clip which secures a rail to a mounting or support structure which allows some flexing of the rail. The clip is constructed of a hard durable material and is provided with a fulcrum point to permit a small amount of longitudinal flexion of the rail. The clip is also provided with resilient inserts to permit the fastening clip to allow the rail to expand, thus compensating for longitudinal forces. The fastening clip is constructed for use with existing rail fastening base assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4061269
Abstract: A restraining rail mounting assembly which supports a rail adjacent to a track for maintaining the wheels of railroad cars on the track while traversing dangerous curves or any area where derailing is a potential hazard. The mounting system is comprised of a support having a tongue and oblique slot for mounting a railroad track on its side and permitting adjustment on the space between the track and the restraining rail. The mounting assembly is comprised of a plate embedded in a cement pedestal with a second support plate for locking the rail support bracket also secured in the cement pedestal. The base of the rail support bracket has diagonally opposite extensions with the extension furthest from the rail having a serrated surface and matching lock washer to securely hold the restraining rail mounting bracket.
