  • Publication number: 20140138235
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a switch device that includes a first switch portion that is configured to rotate a first angular amount in a first direction about a first fixed axis of rotation and has a first pivot arm length. The first and second switch are coupled to the interface portion. The second switch portion rotates a second angular amount in a second direction and has a second pivot arm length. The second angular amount is greater than the first angular amount and a function of the first pivot arm length and the second pivot arm length. A set of switch contacts includes at least one fixed contact and a movable contact separated by a predetermined minimum distance that is a function of the first pivot arm length and the second pivot arm length.

  • Patent number: 8643220
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for controlling electrical power provided to at least one electrical load. The actuator retainer housing includes a toggle actuator disposed adjacent to a variable control actuator in a side-by-side arrangement within the actuator retainer housing with no framing or support structure disposed therebetween. The variable control actuator includes a rotatable axial variable control mounting structure coupled to the actuator retainer housing. The axial toggle mounting structure and the axial variable control mounting structure are substantially parallel to a central latitudinal axis. An electronic control circuit is coupled to the plurality of control terminals and the modular switch actuation assembly. The electronic control circuit is configured to respond to actuations of the toggle actuator and/or the variable control actuator.

  • Publication number: 20130277086
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrical wiring system having a frame assembly that includes a frame opening at a central portion thereof. The frame opening provides access to the interior of the device wall box. At least one electrical wiring device is configured to snap into the frame opening such that the interior of the device wall box is completely enclosed by the frame assembly and the at least one electrical wiring device such that access to wiring disposed within the device wall box is substantially prevented. The at least one electrical wiring device includes at least one user-interface. An aesthetic overlay may be coupled to the frame assembly. The aesthetic overlay includes an overlay opening configured to accommodate the at least one user-interface such that the at least one user-interface is accessible to a user.

  • Patent number: 7531744
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrical wiring box that includes a wiring device interface portion having a substantially planar member configured to accommodate a structural member on a first side and a rim portion extending from a perimeter of the planar member from a second side thereof to form an enclosed volume. The rim portion has a rim width approximately equal to a width of a sheet of drywall. The wiring device interface portion also includes a plurality of fastener apertures. A fastener storage structure includes a plurality of fastener storage holders extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first side of the planar member. The fastener storage holders and the planar member are configured to accommodate the structural member therebetween. Each fastener storage holder includes a fastener holder opening accessible from the second side.

  • Patent number: 7214876
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an integrally molded wall box unit that includes an electrical box configured to receive at least one electrical device. The electrical box includes a front face portion configured to accommodate the at least one electrical device and an opposing back wall portion configured to accommodate electrical wiring. A gripper member includes a flange member, an arm member and a tooth member. The flange member is connected to a first side of the electrical box and extends outwardly in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first side. The arm member is connected to the flange member at a first end and extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the flange member. The electrical box, the flange member, and the arm member are configured to receive a structural member disposed therebetween. The tooth member is disposed at a second end of the arm member. The tooth member extending in a direction toward the electrical box.

  • Patent number: 7075009
Abstract: A screw less faceplate assembly includes of a single monolithic subplate component and a single monolithic faceplate component that is removably attachable to the subplate component. Both the subplate component and the faceplate component have complimentary, respective, reversible co-engagement means only located adjacent outer perimeter surfaces thereof. The subplate component is metallized or otherwise reinforced such that upon installation against an existing, potentially non-flat or uneven wall surface, the proper position and spacing of multiple electrical devices engaged with the subplate component are maintained. Embodiments of the invention include a subplate component and a faceplate component, and, upon assembly, a screw less faceplate assembly.
