  • Patent number: 5792393
Abstract: A method of repairing damaged hot refractory linings in high-temperature vessels includes forming an opening through the outer shell of the vessel proximate to the damaged region of the hot refractory lining, and introducing a refractory material into the damaged region. The refractory material is rapidly injected in a sufficient amount to effect complete filling, and is fast curing to strength at the operating temperature of the vessel. The method eliminates the need to allow the vessel to cool down to ambient temperature and then reheat the vessel to operating temperature thereby eliminating thermal cycling of the refractory lining.

  • Patent number: 4828767
Abstract: Steam distribution lines may be adapted for desuperheat without being removed from service by adding a branch conduit and a closure valve, hot tapping the line through the closure valve and adding a desuperheater apparatus including an elongated injection conduit with water injection nozzles disposed near the distal end thereof. An insertion and retraction device is mounted on the valve and supports the desuperheater apparatus for insertion of the desuperheat water injection conduit into the interior of the distribution line without interrupting steam flow. Temperature indicators and controllers are similarly installed on the distribution line downstream of the desuperheater apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4155976
Abstract: An apparatus for storing molten materials comprising a storage tank; inlet and outlet means associated with the storage tank to provide access and egress for the molten material; steam supply means for providing steam to the storage tank; vapor removal means providing for exit of vapor from the vapor space of the storage tank; a liquid powered eductor in fluid communication with the vapor removal means acting to urge vapors from the storage tank through the vapor removal means; and a liquid supply means associated with the eductor to provide liquid to operate the eductor, the amount of liquid supplied being controlled in response to the vapor pressure within the storage tank.An improved method for storing molten materials is also disclosed.
