  • Publication number: 20100145999
Abstract: A registry for designating authoritative sourcing of data from a data environment in a computer readable storage medium. Selected data content resides into a first data subject area in the form of a common business language, and metadata including characteristics of data stores in the data environment resides into a second data subject area, which is a metadata repository. Data linking a term in the first data subject area with an authoritative location of data associated with the term, as identified in the second data subject area, resides into a third subject area, which is the registry. A basis of authority of the data location and operating scope of the data may be designated in the third data store. Operating scopes may be functional, geographic, temporal, organizational, or a combination thereof. A computer program product and computer readable memory system for designating authoritative sourcing in a data environment are provided.

  • Publication number: 20100145913
Abstract: A method of and system for monitoring and providing notification of changes to a data environment. Parameters of interest for monitoring changes made to a metadata data store are stored. Instructions are stored related to notifying a recipient of a communication about the changes. The metadata is monitored for changes related to the parameters of interest, and a change notification communication is generated with transmission initiated to the recipient. The instructions related to notification of the changes may include the identity of a recipient, mechanism for notification, and format and content of notification. A computer readable memory system and a computer program product may be provided that is encoded with a data structure for notifying data consumers of changes to a data environment that includes metadata.

  • Patent number: 7734686
Abstract: A mark-up method and system that enables server-managed thick client capabilities using a thin client server, framework, and administration. Active content such as program code, service, and data components, are driven to a thick client platform. The thick client platform is defined through a combination of thick client components, while the thick client components and user interface experience are centrally managed. The thick client container can operate to embed thin client container components, such as a browser, and the thick client container itself can be initially deployed over a network using a thin client.

  • Patent number: 7542284
Abstract: A laptop computer with an attached printer unit. The printer unit is a detachable unit that normally is attached to the base of the laptop computer and includes an input slot, an output slot, a USB connection port, a power cord selection slot, and a pair of slots for ink cartridges. The input slot allows for a single piece of paper to be inserted into the printer unit, while the output slot emits the paper after it has been printed on by the printer unit. The top surface of the printer unit has a plurality of mounting holes, while the bottom of the laptop has a plurality of mounts, allowing the printer unit to be securely attached to the laptop, yet at the same time, allowing it to be easily detachable. An included USB connection port allows the printer to be electronically connectable to the laptop unit.

  • Patent number: 6863364
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for estimating a number of remaining pages that may be printed from a printing device using a replaceable component installed in the printing device. If less than a page count threshold has been printed using the replaceable component, then one or more default values pertaining to a consumable item contained in the replaceable component are used for the estimation. After the page count threshold number of pages has been printed using the replaceable component, actual printer usage data relating to the consumable item in the replaceable component is used to derive the estimate.

  • Patent number: 6282099
Abstract: A structure for mounting a circuit card. The structure includes a track in which the circuit card may slide and pivot. The card slides into the track and then pivots to engage electrical contacts on the body of the circuit card, rather than on the edge of the card, to mating contacts on the main circuit board in the computer, printer or other electronic device.

  • Patent number: 5644803
Abstract: A spa cover support assembly is provided with a plurality of support arms having upper and lower ends with the lower ends pivotally attached to an external surface of the spa side wall for pivotal rotation of the upper ends of the support arms through an arc from a point above and adjacent to the side wall to a point away from the side wall at a point where the upper ends of the support arms are within the generally horizontal plane defined by the top surfaces of the side walls and at a distance away from the side wall wherein the center of gravity of the spa cover supported between the side wall and the upper ends of the support arms will fall between the side wall and the upper ends of the support arm assembly. A generally horizontal support bar is provided attached to the upper ends of the support arms for supporting the spa cover.

  • Patent number: 5558303
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for de-icing an aircraft of the type having wings and fuel storage in the wings. Hot fuel is provided for fueling the aircraft. The hot fuel is at elevated temperatures which are sufficiently high enough to transfer heat from the fuel, through a fuel tank extending within the wings, and to the exterior of the wings to de-ice the aircraft. A storage tank stores the fuel, and a heater heats the fuel to elevated temperatures. An intermediate thermal transfer system having a secondary thermal fluid transfers heat from a primary power source to the fuel. Further, a substantial volume of the secondary thermal fuel may be maintained at elevated temperatures to provide a sufficient thermal reserve capacity for heating the fuel upon demand.

  • Patent number: 5300160
Abstract: A label transfer device 10 having drive roller 26 and pinch roller 28 for advancing label tape 30, positioning a label attached to label tape 30 adjacent to stripping edge 24 of slidable stripping plate 18 and holding said label fixed in that position while stripping plate 18 is retracted from a first position to a second position so as to strip the label from label tape 30. Vacuum pick up head 38 is provided for attachment to the stationary label prior to the movement of stripping plate 18 so as to ensure positive attachment to prior to label stripping and thus eliminating label transfer skips.

  • Patent number: 5259291
Abstract: A trap for receiving a projectile travelling along a substantially horizontal axis of travel at high velocity includes a pair of side walls, and primary, secondary and tertiary deflecting plates. The primary plate obliquely intersects the axis of travel of the projectile to downwardly deflect the projectile or particles thereof to approximately a second axis of travel. The secondary plate obliquely intersects the second axis of travel to further downwardly deflect the projectile or particles thereof to approximately a third axis of travel. The tertiary pate obliquely intersects the third axis of travel to further downwardly deflect the projectile or particles thereof to approximately a fourth axis of travel. Each deflection shows particle velocity. A bottom surface extends below the plates so that the plates, the sides and the bottom surface define a rectangular mouth for receiving the projectile and a chamber for containing the projectile or particles thereof.
