The processor is coupled to the messaging interface and is operable to receive the received message from the messaging interface and translate the received message into a common message in a common format. The bus interface is coupled to the processor and is operable to receive the common message from the processor and transmit the common message to the second device through a bus.

The registration request is routed to a second communications network based upon an international mobile subscriber identity number associated with the subscriber. The international mobile subscriber identity number allows the subscriber to register with the second communications network.

Abstract: Voice mail service in an environment having multiple voice mail technology platforms is provide by an Automatic Message Attendant (AMA) device and a subscriber profile database. The AMA device has a platform selector element that queries the subscriber profile database for voice mail technology platform indicator information, which it then uses to select a voice mail technology platform. Additionally, the AMA device may also have a greeting player and message recorder element that queries an announcement database, and a content adapter element that queries a message format requirement database. Thus, the AMA device may also provide call termination functionality by playing a greeting and recording a message from the caller, and converting the recorded message into a format suitable for use with the selected voice mail technology platform.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for delivering a message to a communications device. One method migrates a subscriber's communications device to a Global System for Mobile communications network. The subscriber's communications device is migrated from a Time Division Multiple Access communications network or a Code Division Multiple Access communications network. An origination request is received from the communications device, and the origination request is for sending the message from the communications device. The origination request includes a network address. The network address is associated to a signaling point code, and the signaling point code identifies a message service center in the Global System for Mobile communications network. The origination request is routed to the message service center in the Global System for Mobile communications network, wherein the origination request is processed by the message service center.

The first adapter is in communication with the first device and is operable to receive a first formatted message in a first messaging format from the first device. The first adapter translates the first formatted message into a common format as a common formatted message and provides the common formatted message to a bus within the telecommunications system. The second adapter is in communication with the bus and the second device. The second adapter is operable to receive the common formatted message from the bus, translate the common formatted message into a second messaging format as a second formatted message, and provide the second formatted message to the second device.
