  • Patent number: 7589656
Abstract: Synchronization of the angle position of the crankshaft of a motor vehicle with the internal clock of a engine control device is often imprecise and complicated and is often fraught with difficulties, particularly with regard to the detection and processing of external sensor signals. The invention relates to a engine control device wherein the angle position of the crankshaft is initially detected and converted into an electronic trigger signal in a trigger converter. The electronic trigger signal controls the detection and the analog-to-digital conversion of an analog signal, particularly an analog sensor signal. Control occurs in such a way that data can only be detected when a specific trigger signal is present or that data can only be continuously detected and processed when a specific trigger signal is present.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 15, 2005
Date of Patent: September 15, 2009
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 6158021
Abstract: The proper functionality of a first processor is checked with a second processor. The second processor thereby provides the first processor with a start value and a computation rule. The first processor carries out the specified computation rule using the predetermined start value, and returns a result to the second processor. The second processor checks the result against a stored comparison result. The computation rule is defined such that the basic instructions which are used for programming the first processor are checked.

  • Patent number: 6067586
Abstract: The functionality of a first processor is checked with a second processor. A data word with a specified number of data bits is supplied to the first processor from a second processor at specified time intervals. Each data bit is assigned a function. Having processed a function, the first processor inverts the associated data bit and, at the end of a time slice, passes the data word to the second processor, which checks the transferred data word.

  • Patent number: 5951619
Abstract: In a method and a device for controlling an actuator, synchronous, cylinder-dependent and asynchronous operations are entered into lists by an operating system as a function of states, in particular operating states of an engine. The lists have prescribed priority levels according to which the lists are processed. In this way, quicker and more flexible processing of the operations is made possible.
