  • Patent number: 11974002
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and computer-readable recording medium for automatic routing of an audio output using a smart media device (SMD), which includes receiving a request for audio content or audio and visual content, obtaining the audio content or the audio and visual content requested, and determining a power state of an audio/video (AV) output device. If the power state is determined to be ON, the audio content or the audio and visual content is automatically routed to the AV output device, and if the power state is determined to be OFF, the audio content is automatically routed to the SMD for output. If the power state is determined to be OFF and the request is for audio and visual content, the power state of the AV output device is controlled ON, and the audio and visual content is routed to the AV output device.

  • Patent number: 11757752
Abstract: Extensive resources can be required to stage, clean-and-screen, repair, diagnose, etc. a network device. To reduce the impact on resources, a diagnostic device is used to perform diagnostic testing or analysis of a network device, such as a set top box received at a facility. The diagnostic device connects to the network device via one or more connections to initiate a diagnostic testing and analysis. The network device sends diagnostic data to the diagnostic device which uses this data to generate a diagnostic report and/or sends this data to a network resource. The diagnostic testing or analysis is used to appropriately direct the network device, for example, for repair, redistribution, disposal, or other treatment.

  • Patent number: 11650421
Abstract: A method may include identifying, by one or more processors, an object in a field of view of a wearable display, where the object is identified for a presbyopic compensation. The presbyopic compensation is performed by the one or more processors on image data of the object to generate compensated image data of the object. The one or more processors render an image in response to the compensated image data of the object on a display of the wearable display.

  • Publication number: 20230022642
Abstract: An audio services agent manager (ASAM) of a control device can provide an improved user experience by iterating through a list of audio services agents so as to verify that a requested audio service is provided. The ASAM can receive an audio input from an audio input device and direct the audio input as an audio command to an audio services agent based on an audio service rule. The ASAM can verify processing of the audio command by the audio service agent based on a response received by the ASAM from the audio service agent. If the response indicates success, then the audio service requested by the audio command is provided, otherwise, the ASAM can select another audio services agent based on the audio service rule and proceed to direct the audio command to the newly selected audio services agent so as to provide the requested audio service.

  • Patent number: 11489888
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and computer-readable recording medium transfer a media session from a companion device to a media hub device connected in a network. A swipe operation is performed on the companion device, and a scan request is transmitted from the companion device to media hub devices connected in the network. The companion device receives a response packet from each media hub device based on the scan request. Each response packet includes a media access control (MAC) address. The companion device calculates a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) indicating signal strengths of the media hub devices based on each response packet, and determines a media hub device having a strongest signal strength. A media session executing on the companion device is then transferred over IP to the media hub device having the strongest signal strength.

  • Publication number: 20210098137
Abstract: Increasingly, multiple users and multiple network devices are connecting to or requesting access to and/or from network resources. Users are increasingly expanding the number of network devices connected to a network. For example, a Home Network Environment (HNE) can have multiple networked devices connected to a single network. Each network device has its own interface and each network device is controlled via this interface which is generally located at the network device. A smart media device (SMD) can provide a centralized control for the multiple network devices and access to and/or from the multiple network resources. The SMD can provide control of one or more Internet of Things devices communicatively coupled to the SMD.

  • Publication number: 20160379105
Abstract: Signals representing local events and/or state are captured at a mobile device and utilized by a machine learning system to recognize patterns of user behaviors and make predictions to automatically launch an application, initiate within-application activities, or perform other actions. The local signals may include, for example, location information such as geofence crossings; alarm settings; use of network connections like Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth®; device state such as battery level, charging status, and lock screen state; device movement indicating that the device user may be driving, walking, running, or stationary; audio routing such as headphones being used; telemetry data from other devices; and application state including launches and within-application activities. A feedback loop is supported in which the machine learning system may utilize feedback from the user as part of a learning process to adapt and tune the system's predictions to improve the relevance of the predictions.

  • Patent number: 7460525
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are provided to enable access to mobile and voice over IP (VoIP) telephone networks with a mobile handset. A VoIP gateway for the VoIP telephone network is provided. A cable modem allows communication between the handset and the VoIP telephone network via the VoIP gateway. A local network connects the handset to the VoIP gateway. The mobile handset determines whether it is within range of the local network. If the handset is within the range of the local network, data traffic may be routed to and from the handset via the VoIP telephone network. If the handset is outside of the range of the local network, data traffic may be routed to and from the handset via the mobile telephone network. The data traffic may comprise telephony data traffic and/or Internet protocol (IP) data traffic.
