  • Patent number: 8737540
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to wireless or wired multiple-input multiple-output communication systems, in which a transmit symbol vector and a set of soft decision metrics are estimated using a reduced complexity maximum likelihood (ML) detection method based on a receive symbol vector and a QR decomposition of a set of permuted channel matrices. The QR decomposition can be performed by a series of CORDIC operations. Preferably, the modified receive vector and upper triangular matrix streams are scaled by a weighting vector to help compensate for transmit and receive side noise. Also preferably, the soft decision metric set related to the reliability of transmitted bits is normalized.

  • Publication number: 20130128927
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to wireless communication systems having a receiver capable of detecting chirping radar pulses. The systems and methods include processing an input signal to obtain a spectral analysis that identifies which frequency exhibits maximum signal magnitude at a given time and determines a rate of change that frequency. By determining that the rate of change is within parameters established by the pulse width range and the chirping bandwidth range, the signal can be identified as a chirping radar pulse. By comparing the rate of change to known characteristics, the signal can be identified as a chirping radar pulse. Suitable characteristics include parameters for the rate of change established by the pulse width range and the chirping bandwidth range and linearity of the rate of change.

  • Patent number: 7907080
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting radar signals in single and multiple (extension) channel wireless network frequencies uses spectral and DC analysis. Spectral images produced through a Fast Fourier transform may be captured and analyzed to determine if any radar signals may be present within the selected wireless network frequencies. A plurality of spectral images may also be analyzed to determine if frequency shifting radar signals are present as well. DC analysis of the power contained at the wireless carrier frequencies may detect radar signals that may be centered near those frequencies.
