Patent number: 8984864Abstract: An exhaust system for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The system comprises a three-way catalyst (TWC), a fuel reformer catalyst located downstream of the TWC, and a fuel supply means located upstream of the fuel reformer catalyst. The exhaust gas is split into two portions. The first portion of the exhaust gas bypasses the TWC and contacts the fuel reformer catalyst in the presence of fuel added from the fuel supply means, and is then recycled back to the engine intake. The second portion of the exhaust gas is contacted with the TWC and is then utilized to heat the fuel reformer catalyst before being expelled to atmosphere. The exhaust system allows for maximum heat exchange from the exhaust gas.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2014Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: Johnson Matthey Public Limited CompanyInventors: Kirsty Ellen Cockle, Paul James Millington, Edward James Richard Moss, John Frederick Pignon

Patent number: 8650067Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media are described for generating a credible market value that is utilized to produce a listing price for a property with reduced risk of a substantial reduction in the listing price before selling the property and for assessing risk of incorrectly pricing a property. A subject property, selected comparables, and selected comparables having multiple sales are imported from one or more databases for analysis. Information that is imported may include, for example, property features, original listing prices, record of days on the market, and a final listing price and sales price for each property that was sold. A market analysis process is run to produce relative market assessments and a residential value process is run including appreciation calculations based on the comparable properties having multiple sales to produce the credible market value.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2008Date of Patent: February 11, 2014Inventor: Richard Moss

Publication number: 20070049641Abstract: The present invention relates to pharmaceutical kits and methods to treat lung inflammation and redox imbalance in human cystic fibrosis patients using pharmaceutical compositions containing N-acetylcysteine (NAC), pharmaceutically acceptable salts of N-acetylcysteine, or N-acetylcysteine derivatives. In phase I studies, treatment with oral NAC at a dose of from about 1800 mg/day to about 3000 mg/day for a period of 4 weeks produced significant positive effects, namely, it decreased absolute numbers of white blood cells and neutrophils in the sputum and produced concomitant decreases in sputum neutrophil elastase specific activity and sputum interleukin-8 levels, suggesting an amelioration of lung inflammation in the patients. These effects were associated with an increased total GSH level in whole blood as well increased staining for reduced GSH in blood neutrophils, both of which reflect an amelioration of the redox imbalance in the patients.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2006Publication date: March 1, 2007Inventors: Rabindra Tirouvanziam, Lenore Herzenberg, Leonard Herzenberg, Carol Conrad, Richard Moss
