  • Publication number: 20060156938
Abstract: A cleaning device (1, 1?) for printing cylinders of rotary presses is provided. The cleaning device includes a guide rail (2), mounted generally parallel to the printing cylinder, and a washing device (4) is guided on the rail o as to be longitudinally displaceable. The washing device (4) has at least one rotationally driven cleaning brush (8) with at least one axis of rotation arranged approximately parallel to that of the printing cylinder. The washing device (4) is held on a longitudinal side of the guide rail (2) facing the printing cylinder so that the washing device can move, and the axis of rotation of the at least one cleaning brush (3) is arranged between planes formed by a top side and a bottom side of the guide rail (2). The cleaning device (1) has a space-saving and compact design anc can be mounted in a rotary press even where there is little space, for example in the vicinity of adjacent printing cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6561096
Abstract: A cleaning device (1) having a guide rail (3) with a longitudinally moveable carriage, to which carriage (4) a washing apparatus (5) is releasably affixed. The guide rail (3) is positionally adjustable for operationally placing the washing apparatus (5) at a printing cylinder (2). The washing apparatus (5) is connected to a supply unit by means of supply lines. The supply lines extend within the guide rail (3) from the washing apparatus (5) to a stationary connection position (7). The guide rail (3) includes a suction wastewater channel (14) which is placed between an upper section (15) and a lower section (16) of a movable belt (19) which is designed for the reciprocal transport of the carriage (4). A belt (19) section (15) forms a cover for the suction wastewater channel (14).

  • Patent number: 6084201
Abstract: A method is provided for forming a molten oxide ceramic electrode for a plasma arc ignited between first and second electrodes within a plasma arc chamber, wherein the conductivity the oxide ceramic is a function of temperature alone. Following ignition of the plasma arc, a mixture is formed of a small quantity of molten oxide ceramic and a sufficiently high concentration of a volatile contaminant to render the mixture electrically conductive. The plasma arc is then transferred from one of the electrodes to the mixture. The temperature of the mixture is raised sufficiently to render the oxide ceramic electrically conductive. Finally, the volatile contaminant is progressively removed from the mixture so as to leave an electrode composed of substantially pure molten oxide ceramic.
