Abstract: A gift card account system is provided for a merchant to process gift cards. The system comprises a merchant terminal for enabling a merchant to access a gift card account to (i) associate a key number with an account number of a gift card when payment is received from a gift card purchaser for purchase of the gift card, and (ii) associate payment instrument information with the key number and the account number when the purchased gift card and the payment instrument information are received from a gift card recipient so as to allow the gift card recipient to apply the gift card towards a future purchase of goods or services from the merchant without having to present the gift card again to the merchant.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided of processing payments to a merchant for selling goods or services to a consumer. The computer-implemented method comprises at a first time, receiving from the consumer a first payment made by a first payment instrument for a first purchase of goods or services, at a second time which is after the first time, receiving from the consumer a second payment made by a second payment instrument which is different from the first payment instrument for a second purchase of goods or services, and processing the first and second payment instruments to link the first and second payment instruments to the same consumer and thereby allowing the merchant to link the first and second purchases of goods or services without having had to ask the consumer for any personal information.

Abstract: Deposit transaction data associated with a check deposited at an automated teller machine (ATM) is processed to determine if the deposited check is acceptable. Deposit transaction data relating to the deposited check is received from an ATM switch. A determination is made as to whether the deposited check is acceptable based upon the transaction data. A flag is set and a risk score is assigned when the deposited check is determined to be unacceptable. A second source file is created using set flags and assigned risk scores, and then sent to a data server. The second source tile is merged with associated deposit data retrieved from memory at the data server. The merged file is sent to a deposit review processor and a deposit review workstation. The deposit review processor determines if any deposited item needs to be reviewed by a human operator or outsorted based upon data contained in the merged file.
