  • Patent number: 4794314
Abstract: A position actuator includes a motor driven low efficiency lead screw with a follower moving in parallel relation to a valve coupler of a valve shaft and a switch operator of a force/torque limit unit. A lever is pivotally coupled to the follower, coupler and the operator. The lever pivots about the operator to move the valve coupler at a valve limit. The coupler cannot move and the lever pivots about the coupler to move the operator and actuates a switch to signal an alarm and/or another controller. The limit unit includes an elongated coil spring having a low spring rate within a tubular housing having mounting plates for switches. The operator passes through the spring and has retainers abutting the spring ends and the housing to provide a factory spring calibration. The lever couplings include a lever opening with spaced knife-edges to provide low friction engagement. In a damper control, limit unit is mounted to a driven sector gear and a lever is secured to a damper shaft.

  • Patent number: 4458841
Abstract: A modular fluid control module having a plug-in connector is provided for control of one or more functional load devices in response to fluid condition and demand input signals. The module includes a fluid circuit board having top and bottom plate members bonded to a common center plate. The top and bottom plates each have a plurality of parallel flow lines. The first and second parallel lines are substantially perpendicularly related to define an X-Y coordinate grid. The center plate has openings establishing preselected connection of the parallel flow lines in the top and bottom plates. The top plate includes a multiple input/output port connector which includes a plurality of ports connected to the parallel flow lines of the top plate. Each of the top and bottom plates includes a plurality of plug-in logic and control ports connected to select internal flow lines of the corresponding plate.

  • Patent number: 4456168
Abstract: A modular pneumatic control apparatus controls a mixed air handling units in an air conditioning system. The apparatus includes a single configured manifold module plate having a plurality of function module plug-in connectors and a plurality of input/output plug-in connectors. Function modules have complementary plug-in connectors for connection to the manifold module are designed with common opposite outer plates having surface passageways abutting a center plate with openings to define a particular circuit. The outer plates have all external ports for defining any function module used in any system. The manifold module is a constant architecture and acts as an interface between the system sensors and load devices and the function modules which create the desired complex control systems. Only a relatively small number of function modules are required.

  • Patent number: 4283007
Abstract: A mixed air conditioning controller is formed as a factory assembled and adjusted unit in a compact housing, with simple and direct input/output field connectors. Various temperature and humidity input devices are field connected to produce a sequenced control of the air dampers and mechanical cooling and heating devices, as well as auxiliary devices. The controller includes a primary input related to room demand, an outside air temperature input, with an interlocked control to the damper, a fan status input, a minimum air supply control and a by-pass switch having a low limit input. The logic network connecting the input/output includes pneumatic switching, pressure selecting and comparing devices of a diaphragm-controlled-orifice construction connected to function as fluidic repeaters, pressure regulating valves and pressure isolating and switching devices. The controller includes a conditioning channel and a damper channel.

  • Patent number: 4207914
Abstract: A control valve includes a single diaphragm as a common wall between an input signal chamber having an input port and an output chamber having a central supply port and an exhaust orifice. The orifice has a seating face parallel to and spaced from the diaphragm. A spring-loaded ball valve unit in the supply passage is aligned with an operator moving with the diaphragm. An increasing input signal first moves the diaphragm to close the exhaust orifice and thereafter moves the operator to open the supply valve. Pressure builds in the output chamber, tending to return the diaphragm and close the supply valve until the output and pilot pressure are balanced. The supply valve then closes. As the exhaust is sealed off, this effectively seals the output chamber. If the signal decreases, the diaphragm uncovers the exhaust orifice until a new balanced state is created.

  • Patent number: 4188977
Abstract: A fluid pneumatic circuit board includes a base plate and a flat cover plate molded of a suitable plastic such as polysulfone. The plates are chemically bonded with a thermal adhesive such as a refrigerated solid sheet of epoxy. The base plate has a planar surface within which the fluid circuit passageways, as well as structural board and component supports are integrally molded. The cover plate has individual sealing ribs formed to encircle each of the passageways. The epoxy sheet is shaped to cover the passageways, and with openings aligned with the exhaust openings in the cover plate. The plates, with the adhesive sheet therebetween, is clamped together and heated in an oven to soften the adhesive. The sealing rib has inclined sidewalls and an outer flat sealing wall, with an included angle of 60.degree. and a tip width equal to the sheet thickness and a height equal 21/2 times the sheet thickness. Moisture and/or gas in the softened plastic escape from under the tip and prevent formation of bubbles.
