    Abstract: Substantially dust-free enzyme-containing particles are prepared by spray-coating solid particulate cores with a fermentation broth containing enzymes. Fermentation broths containing from 5% to 100% total enzyme solids and 4%-55% total solids content in the broth may be used. For broths containing 4%-31% total solids, enzyme and coating agents may be spray-coated so as to achieve a weight gain of 1%-24% w/w over the initial weight of the cores. For broths with 31%-55% total solids, a corresponding weight gain of 1%-100% may be achieved. The enzyme coated cores may be further coated with coating agents. The total dry weight added to the cores ranges from 1% to 19% in the absence of coating agents and 1% to 24% in the presence of coating agents when the lower range of total solids content is used. The total dry weight added to the cores ranges from 1% to 100% when the higher range of total solids content is used.

    Abstract: A metal strapping band to support flexible insulation within a wall cavity between spaced-apart wall studs, which strapping band comprises an elongated, metal strapping band having a plurality of uniformly spaced-apart lines of weakness therein extending from and adjacent at least one edge thereof, to define a plurality of defined tab elements in the plane of the band, which tab elements may be bent outwardly from the plane of the metal band, to form a support for flexible insulation to be secured within the wall cavity between the wall studs, the insulation supported by securing the metal strapping band to and across the wall studs, and bending outwardly the defined tab elements and impaling the flexible sheet material on the bent tab elements.

    Abstract: An insulated wall system and method of construction, which system comprises: generally horizontal metal strapping bands secured to a wall, the metal strapping bands characterized by lines of weakness therein adapted to form tab portions from the metal strapping bands; a solid-panel insulating material placed against the wall and secured by a tab portion of the generally horizontal metal strapping bands, the tab portion extending about one edge of the panel material and against the interior side thereof, so as to secure the panel material against the wall; a generally vertical, metal-bank strapping material secured to the interior tab portion; and wallboard or finished wall material secured to the generally vertical metal-band material, thereby providing for an insulated wall system and method of construction employing solid panel material, without the requirement of wall studs.

    Abstract: In a method of preparing the enzyme, urease, from jack beans, wherein the jack beans are reduced to a fine particle size and the fine particles so reduced constitute urease, the fine jack-bean particles thereafter irradiated for a period of time, the irradiated jack beans then recovered and employed as a source of urease enzyme, the improvement which comprises: irradiating the whole jack beans prior to any size reduction of the seeds of the jack beans, to provide a urease derived from the white seeds of the irradiated whole jack beans having an improved activity level.

    Abstract: A chemically embossed cellular vinyl chloride resin sheet material is prepared by treating the gelled surface of a vinyl chloride resin plastisol containing a blowing agent and a peroxide catalyst which induces polymerization of an acrylic monomer or resin with a liquid which contains an acrylic monomer or resin subject to polymerization, and subsequently heating the treated gelled vinyl chloride resin sheet material to polymerize the acrylic monomer or resin and to decompose the blowing agent, whereby full expansion of the sheet material is prevented by the polymerization in the treated areas, thereby producing a chemically embossed product.
