Patent number: 9132532Abstract: A ratchet wrench has a through cavity in which a reversing lever is disposed. The reversing lever has a pair of protruding lips formed thereon opposite from one another. A cooperating ledge is formed on the head in the cavity and on the pawl which is adjacent to the reversing lever. A spring-loaded pusher is disposed longitudinally in a blind bore in the reversing lever and the pusher engages a pocket in the pawl. A cover plate is disposed on a shelf recessed on the bottom of the wrench and spaced apart from the reversing lever.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2014Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: Apex Brands, Inc.Inventors: Robert L. Patent number: 7185566Abstract: A ratcheting tool includes a body and a gear disposed in the body. The gear defines a plurality of teeth on a circumference of the gear so that the gear teeth define a first arc having a first radius. A pawl is disposed in the body so that the pawl is movable laterally with respect to the gear between a first position, in which the pawl is disposed between the body and the gear so that the body transmits torque through the pawl in a first rotational direction, and a second position, in which the pawl is disposed between the body and the gear so that the body transmits torque through the pawl in an opposite rotational direction. The pawl defines a plurality of teeth facing the gear, and the pawl teeth define a second arc having a second radius larger than the first radius.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2006Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Assignee: Easco Hand Tools, Inc.Inventors: Robert L. Patent number: 5199330Abstract: A reversing ratchet wrench especially suited for mass production and having few easily machinable parts. The pawl and driver are provided with overlapping covers which retain the pawl and protect the engaging teeth. The driver cover is flush with the wrench head for added convenience, yet makes no contact because the driver is supported on a driver skirt. Hence, the wrench is highly impact resistant. A unique retaining clip for retaining the driver allows convenient replacement of the pawl cap/reversing lever without removal of the pawl. Likewise, the wrench can be completely disassembled without special tools, thereby facilitating point-of-sale repair.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1991Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Assignee: Easco Hand Tools, Inc.Inventors: Robert L. Arnold, Richard P. Folkenroth, James A. Van Lenten, Kenneth J. Taggart, James P. Gurzenski
