Abstract: This invention describes a substantially less pressure sensitive photographic film comprising a support, at least one light sensitive silver halide element, and an overlaying element comprising gelatin-grafted or case-hardened gelatin-grafted soft polymer particle composite element. The incorporation of such an overlaying composite particle cushioning layer does not compromise either the physical properties or physical integrity of the film unit. This invention is particularly suitable for highly pressure sensitive tabular grain emulsions.

Abstract: A color photographic material with good photographic performance, such as sharpness, speed and granularity, contains a development inhibitor releasing compound having the structure: ##STR1## wherein: CAR is a carrier moiety;TIME is a timing group; andINH is a development inhibitor moiety,in association with a cyan dye-forming coupler having the structure: ##STR2## wherein: R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, Q, Z, Y, m, and n are as defined in the specification.

Abstract: A photographic recording material is disclosed which contains a compound capable of releasing a development inhibitor moiety during photographic processing which enhances development inhibition and reduces interlayer interimage effects without adversely affecting photographic properties.

Abstract: A novel photographic development inhibitor releasing coupler (A) comprises a coupler moiety bonded to at least one timing group that enables timing of release of a releasable development inhibitor moiety wherein the releasable development inhibitor moiety contains a --CH.sub.2 --Q group that is bonded directly to the inhibitor moiety and that is a group enabling, upon exposure and processing of a photographic element containing the coupler, reduced interlayer interimage effect without reduced image acutance. The coupler (A) is useful in a color photographic silver halide element and process.

Abstract: Photographic elements are disclosed having a first coupler represented by the formula:COUP.sub.1 --T--INH--CH.sub.2 --QwhereinCOUP.sub.1 is a coupler moiety,T is a timing group that is bonded to the coupler moiety at a coupling position and that is cleaved from --INH--CH.sub.2 --Q after it is released from the coupler moiety upon exposure and processing of the element, andINH--CH.sub.2 --Q is a development inhibitor moiety wherein Q is a ballasting group, anda second coupler represented by the formula:COUP.sub.2 --(TIME).sub.n --S--R.sub.1 --R.sub.2wherein COUP.sub.2 is a coupler moiety, TIME is a timing group, n is 0 or 1, R.sub.1 is a divalent linking group that does not include a heterocyclic ring attached directly to S, and R.sub.2 is a water solubilizing group.

Abstract: A photographic element is disclosed that comprises a support having thereon spectrally-sensitized light-sensitive silver halide, a color dye-forming coupler, a DIR compound capable of inhibiting development of the silver halide, and, between the silver halide layer and the source of the image exposure, a layer comprising a non-diffusible filter dye that absorbs light in the region of the spectrum to which the silver halide is sensitized.
