  • Patent number: 6913481
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a modular jack includes a visual indicator for indicating a condition of an electrical signal, and a body capable of receiving at least a portion of a connector plug. The body has a first outer surface located in a first plane, and a second outer surface located in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the first plane. The body defines a pocket for receiving at least a portion of the visual indicator. The pocket extends into the body from the first and the second outer surfaces so that the at least a portion of the visual indicator can be inserted into the pocket in a first direction substantially perpendicular to the first plane, and in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the second plane.

  • Publication number: 20050137718
Abstract: The present provides a method, system, and program product for rendering state diagrams for a multi-dimensional enterprise architecture. The rendered state diagrams illustrate the actual or planned use, assignment, retirement, interdependence, etc., of enterprise elements in a multi-dimensional enterprise architecture within a user-specified time frame, from a user selected frame of reference, for a user-specified business scope. The method comprises: defining a plurality of objects, wherein each of the objects represents an element of the enterprise architecture; defining a plurality of relationships, wherein each of the relationships is between one of the plurality of objects and another of the plurality of objects; and rendering the at least one state diagram based upon the plurality of objects, the plurality of relationships, and a frame of reference.

  • Patent number: 6868987
Abstract: A bag is provided for containing a liquid intended to be supplied in a controlled manner to some other site, for example to a medical patient. The main bag portion has a pair of overlying side walls joined together around their edges, the side walls having integral extensions which together define an outlet region in communication with the interior of the main portion of the bag. The extensions are bonded together to define a tube-like passageway extending throughout the outlet region from the interior of the bag. The extensions are adapted to permit the connection thereto of a peristaltic pump device co-operable with the tube-like passageway to control the out-flow of liquid from the bag.

  • Publication number: 20050038151
Abstract: Specific low density polyethylene articles that exhibit improved physical characteristics and other benefits over previously made articles produced by less efficient means are provided. Such articles require the presence of saturated or unsaturated bicyclic dicarboxylate nucleating agents that impart increased crystallization temperatures, permit lower manufacturing cycle times, and, most importantly, cause a drastic reduction in warpage at quick cooling times during production. These resultant articles thus can be produced more efficiently with reliable low-warpage characteristics.

  • Patent number: 6811386
Abstract: A peristaltic pump mechanism comprises a base plate (11) having a generally planar surface for supporting a pump tube (12) to extend at least partially around a circular path defined on said surface, an operating section (10) connectable to the base member (11). At least one rotatable pumping element (21) is mounted on the operating section (10) locally to compress the pump tube (12) and roll around the circular path when the operating section (10) is connected to the base member. A power drive causes the pumping element (21) to roll around the circular path, the pumping element (21) being of conical shape and mounted on the operating section (10) so that the axis of the element is substantially co-incident with the centre of the circular path. In this way essentially no slippage takes place between the pumping element and the base plate.

  • Publication number: 20020143864
Abstract: A method of retrieving information by navigating within a web browsing session. The information is stored on a server in a hierarchical tree comprising a root node, top-level child nodes representing information categories and leaf nodes representing information sub-categories. Each of the nodes has an associated information unit. Initially, an information unit associated with the root node is displayed in an information space. A user then performs navigation operations from the root node, by selecting a first top-level child node, traversing the leaf nodes and selecting a first leaf node. A first information unit associated with the first leaf node is subsequently displayed in the information space. This first information unit is stored, the navigation operations are repeated on a second top-level child node until a second information unit is displayed in the information space.

  • Patent number: 6143141
Abstract: Superalloy substrates bearing a rhenium diffusion barrier, and a method of forming a rhenium diffusion barrier between a superalloy substrate and an overlay coating comprising aluminum. The method involves depositing a rhenium film onto the surface of a superalloy substrate and subjecting the rhenium film to first conditions effective to cause a minor portion of rhenium atoms to penetrate the surface of the superalloy substrate and second conditions effective to cause a minority of the rhenium atoms to diffuse into the substrate, forming a diffusion barrier comprising an interfacial zone comprising a mixture of rhenium atoms and atoms of the superalloy substrate covered by a rhenium film. The diffusion barrier is effective to suppress diffusion of aluminum from the overlay coating under static oxidation testing conditions.

  • Patent number: 5240782
Abstract: A composite material (20) comprises a matrix layer (21) having a plurality of interspersed reinforcing whiskers (23) and a plurality of continuous reinforcing fibers (25) embedded within the matrix layer (21). The preferred embodiment includes a matrix layer (21) which may be a ceramic, intermetallic or metallic material having interspersed reinforcing whiskers (23) upon which a second layer of the matrix (24) having embedded continuous reinforcing fibers (25) is placed, and a third layer (22) of the matrix material having the interspersed reinforcing whiskers (23) on the second layer (24). The composite exhibits improved fracture toughness due to the crack deflection ability of whiskers (23) and crack bridging and fiber pull out due to continuous fibers (25) and minimizes creep associated with known ceramic and intermetallic composites.
