  • Patent number: 10387234
Abstract: A data processing apparatus 2 includes processing circuitry 4 performing processing operations which move the processing circuitry 4 between logical states. Monitoring circuitry 18 monitors logical state variables of the processing circuitry and these are supplied to prediction circuitry 30 which detects predetermined patterns within the logical states which are indicative (previously correlated with) of a future potential temporary insufficiency in the supply power to the processing circuitry 4. When such a pattern is detected, then power control circuitry 8,10 serves to trigger a mitigation response to counteract the future potential temporary insufficiency in power supply, such as temporarily reducing the clock frequency and/or boosting the supply voltage.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 20, 2019
    Assignee: ARM LIMITED

  • Patent number: 9391614
Abstract: Sequential logic elements may consume less static power in response to a first state of a clock signal than in response to a second state of a clock signal (the first and second state may be either low or high depending on the type of sequential logic). This can be exploited to reduce static power consumption of an integrated circuit by controlling the level of a clock signal so that is in the first state for a greater amount of time than the second state.

  • Publication number: 20060054730
Abstract: A safety element retention system having a reel upon which a safety element or strap may be wound, a spring return mechanism, for rewinding the reel and retrieving the safety strap, and further having at least one locking plate, connected integrally with the reel, with a locking hook associated with the reel, a ramp adjacent the hook, a locking dog adjacent to the hook and being swingable about a pivot axis, a damping device connected to said dog for slowing down movement a spring biassing the dog into a predetermined first position, and, a ramp follower member to contact the ramp on the locking plate, and cause the dog to move against the biassing force of the spring, into engagement with a hook on the locking plate, the biassing force of the spring causing swinging of the dog in the reverse direction, during normal operation, to remove the dog out from the path of the hook.

  • Patent number: 5803437
Abstract: A chainless drive winch is provided having a cable cylinder meshing with an orthogonal, cylindrical reduction gearing member. The reduction gearing member may be driven by, for example, an electric motor. A brake is provided operable only when the reduction gearing member is rotated is a direction to lower a load. Limit switches may be provided which are adjustable to alter the distance between them. A trigger finger moving between the limit switches is driven from the cable cylinder. The cable cylinder may be provided with a generally parallel roller to hold turns of cable on the cylinder. The roller may be independently biased at each end so that, when cable is partially unwound from the cylinder, the bias of the roller is enhanced on the remaining turns.
