  • Patent number: 10140462
Abstract: A computing device and method for managing file access control policies on a computing device are disclosed. The method includes maintaining file-access policies in user space, receiving, at a kernel level, from a user in user space, a request to access a file, and directing the request from the kernel level to a file-policy manager in user space. At least one of the of the file-access policies is enforced in user space with the file-policy manager to grant or deny access to the file, and file operations are performed on the file using only kernel-level calls when access to the to the file is granted.

  • Publication number: 20180317696
Abstract: A coffee bean packaging cartridge for holding and supplying multiple servings of coffee beans can be connected to a coffee beverage system. The cartridge includes a container having an outer wall defining an interior volume and an opening at one end thereof. A permanent, preferably non-removable closure member is fitted to the one end of the container and substantially covers the opening. An exit passage in the closure member, defines a coffee bean outlet, for transferring coffee beans from the interior volume. The closure member further has relatively movable closing means for selectively closing the exit passage to reduce exposure of the coffee bean contents to surrounding air. The cartridge further includes connecting means for connecting the cartridge to a coffee beverage system. There is also provided a coffee beverage system that includes the coffee bean packaging cartridge as defined above and at least a dosing device and a grinding mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20180267721
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods for copying a data page in a flash memory device using a flash memory controller. A method may comprise receiving, at the host flash controller, a copy command from a host processor, in response to the copy command, transmitting a read command to the unmanaged flash memory storage device via a bus, wherein the read command indicates particular data, receiving the particular data from the unmanaged flash memory storage device via the bus, storing the particular data in a data buffer included in the host flash controller, and transmitting to the unmanaged flash memory storage device, via the bus, a write command to write the particular data.

  • Publication number: 20180257017
Abstract: Air cleaner assemblies, components, and features are described. The features can be used to provide that the air cleaner assembly cannot be fully closed, even if a cartridge is nested therein, and appears to be sealed, unless that cartridge is a proper one for the system of concern. The effect is to prevent an inappropriate cartridge, that does not properly seal, from being inadvertently installed in the assembly.

  • Patent number: 10024579
Abstract: The present invention typically features integrative configurability for transportation/storage, and disintegrative configurability for operation. Two half-cases are coupled to obtain a case. A case is uncoupled to obtain two half-cases. Each half-case houses a solar panel (pivotably connected to the half-case) and a U-bar (pivotably connected to the solar panel). The solar panel is pivoted away from the half-case's interior to the angle-of-inclination desired for collecting solar energy. The U-bar is pivoted away from the solar panel's back to securely fit into one of plural parallel slots provided across the half-case's interior, the U-bar thereby holding the solar panel in place at the desired angle-of-inclination. The half-cases are laid flat individually to collect solar energy. A half-case is “compacted” by pivoting the U-bar proximate the solar panel's back and pivoting the solar panel proximate the half-case's interior.

  • Patent number: 9329802
Abstract: Methods, systems and devices provide for refreshing a data image stored on a NAND memory device. Aspects include sequentially copying each of a series of static data partitions into a scrub portion that does not store data image partitions identified in the partition table. The sequential copying begins with a last static data partition and proceeds sequentially to a first static data partition when the scrub portion occupies higher order addresses than the last address of the last static data partition. Alternatively, the sequential copying begins with the first static data partition and proceeds sequentially to the last static data partition when the scrub portion occupies addresses that are lower than the first address of the first static data partition. The partition table may be updated as each static data partition is stored to the scrub portion. Such operations enable fail-safe scrubbing and refreshing of data in a NAND device.
