Abstract: Provided is a ribbon-microphone circuit that includes a ribbon transducer and a specially designed transformer. In various possible configurations, the transformer: is a toroidal transformer, has multiple interleaved primary windings, has exactly four primary coils, is a tape-wound-core transformer, has a turns ratio of the composite secondary coil to the composite primary coil of at least 100:1, includes at least three interleaved secondary coils, includes at least three interleaved primary coils, and/or has multiple primary and secondary windings that are interleaved with each other. A buffer circuit also may be enclosed within the outer casing.

Abstract: Provided is a ribbon-microphone transducer that uses an angled-magnet structure and/or a gap (e.g., near the center of the ribbon) in the magnetic structure in order to provide improved sensitivity and frequency response.
