Abstract: A mechanical weightlifting machine in which the machine has a support structure with an elevated pivot having a pivot axis and an articulating mechanism engaging the pivot. The articulating mechanism having at least one articulating structure with a lever arm that has a depending link connected to the weight being used by the weightlifter. The articulating structure having an adjustment mechanism with a displaceable connection device connected to a counterweight. The adjustment mechanism having means for moving the displaceable connection device relative to the pivot axis and actuation means for actuating the means for moving, in order to vary the effective weight removed from or applied to the weight being used by the weightlifter.

Abstract: A system, method, and device for recording and tracking resistance training parameters in connection with a resistance training workout. A specially configured portable recording device has a very compact user interface having an input device with very few inputs. A user may record resistance training parameters directly on the recording device both quickly and easily with few and simple keystrokes, resulting in an improved recording process. A personal trainer or strength coach may track the workouts of multiple exercisers with increased convenience. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the recording device is provided in the body of a sport watch.

The articulating mechanism having projecting lever arms connected to the pivot with depending rod members to which the free weights are connected, the articulating mechanism having a counterweight on a lever arm with one end connected to the support structure and another having a link connected to a displaceable connection member on the articulating mechanism, the machine having a user controlled actuator to displace the displaceable connection member to vary the effective weight applied to or removed from the free weights.
