  • Patent number: 4753511
Abstract: A selected value of attenuation can be inserted in an expanded beam fiber optic connector or coupling component. The attenuator includes a spacer member having planar ends slightly inclined to one another so that the axes of the lenses in the two halves of the connection are caused to be misaligned when the spacer member is disposed between the lenses. An adapter kit is disclosed for modifying an existing connector lacking the ability to selectively attenuate. The kit includes a housing extension member and a spacer member.

  • Patent number: 4095415
Abstract: An expandable metal belt is formed from a plurality of figure-8 shaped sections linked together, each section being formed by weaving a tubular-shaped mesh section from spring metal wire. A coiled wire tensioned spring is passed through the center of the tubular shaped mesh and the ends of the spring are secured to the ends of the tubular mesh section. The opposite ends of the mesh section and tension spring are looped around and brought into abutting relationship and positioned in adjacent parallel relationship to the center of the mesh section to form two loops in the shape of a figure-8. The abutting ends and adjacent center of the mesh are then clamped together by bending a thin metal piece tightly around the adjacent portions of the tubular-shaped mesh section.

  • Patent number: 4091554
Abstract: A medallion or the like for displaying letters or monograms in which the individual letters can be inserted or removed to permit any combination of letters to be displayed. The medallion, which can be used as a belt buckle, pin, clasp or other decorative or ornamental device, utilizes individual flat letters mounted tangentially on tubular members. The tubular members are slidable on a supporting rod. The ends of the rod are removably attached to one side of a slightly bowed metal plate having an elongated opening, the rod extending lengthwise of the opening on the concave side of the plate with the letters bridging the width of the opening on the convex side of the plate. The letters are held in position by the clamping action between the letters and one side of the plate and the anchored ends of the rod on the other side of the plate.
