  • Patent number: 11841048
Abstract: The present invention is directed at products and methods related to the manufacture of a bearing with a bearing liner and the bearing liner on its own. The bearing liner within the bearing includes a fabric with a bonding side polymerized resin composition dispensed on one side and a sliding side polymerized resin composition disposed on a second side that contains dispersed lubricant. The liner preparation also offers the ability for the liner to conform to a selected bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 10184520
Abstract: A self-lubricated bearing contains a first member, a second member configured to slide against the first member, and a lubricating liner disposed in a sliding contact area between the first member and the second member. The lubricating liner contains at least one structural polymer and at least one lubricant with viscosity less than 5100 centistokes. A method is also provided for making the bearings, which includes adding the at least one lubricant with viscosity less than about 5100 centistokes to one or more components of the lubricating liner during the process of making the liner or bearing. The self-lubricated bearing compositions of the invention have surprisingly long service lives versus prior art self-lubricated bearings.

  • Patent number: 9951820
Abstract: A bearing with a wear surface sensor configured to wirelessly transmit information comprising a bearing wear surface containing a wear surface sensor wherein the wear surface sensor includes one or more connecting wires for transmitting a data signal from the wear surface sensor indicative of the state of wear of the bearing wear surface. The one or more connecting wires extend outside of the bearing wear surface and are connected to a radio frequency communicator for transmitting a data signal from the sensor indicative of the state of wear of the bearing wear surface. The radio frequency communicator and the sensor are fixed relative to one another such that the connecting wires are not flexed to failure during bearing use.

  • Publication number: 20180011038
Abstract: A wear sensor comprising: an insulating substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface; a conductive electrode formed on said top surface of said insulating substrate; an insulating wear lining material having a first side secured to said top surface of said insulating substrate and conductive electrode, an opposite second side that will be worn down by relative motion between the wear sensor and a moving component; one or more contact points where the electrical properties between the electrode and the moving component can be measured; and one or more perforations through the thickness of the substrate and electrode, through which an adhesive may flow, thereby increasing the peel strength between the wear sensor and race or between the wear sensor and the wear liner.

  • Patent number: 5516882
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a copolyamide involving copolymerization of (1) a carboxylic acid of terephthalic acid or a terephthalic acid/isophthalic acid mixture with (2) a mixture of hexamethylene diamine and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine. The combined amount of isophthalic acid and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine is controlled so that the resultant copolyamide exhibits few, if any, high melting fractions.

  • Patent number: 5302691
Abstract: A process for the copolymerization of (1) a carboxylic acid consisting of terephthalic acid and mixtures thereof with isophthalic acid with (2) a mixture of hexamethylene diamine and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine. The combined amount of isophthalic acid and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine is controlled so that the resultant copolyamide, when annealed, has less than 1% by weight based on the total weight of the copolyamide of fractions having melting points greater than 320.degree. C. Preferably, the combined amount of isophthalic acid and 2-methyl pentamethylene diamine is greater than 27.5%, molar basis, of the total amount of acid and diamine.
