    Abstract: A Herpes simplex virus (HSV) recombinase comprises a purified or isolated alkaline nuclease and a single stranded DNA binding protein. In HSV-1, the alkaline nuclease is the UL12 protein and the single stranded DNA binding protein is the ICP8 protein. The HSV recombinase can be purified from an in vitro expression system or can be expressed in an appropriate vector or vectors wherein the DNAs encoding the polypeptides are operatively linked to expression control sequences. Methods of use of the HSV recombinase include cloning, treating cells and organisms, and producing transgenic animals. The HSV recombinase can be in the form of a kit useful for cloning.

    Abstract: This invention relates to improved polyepoxide resins having enhanced physical and elastic properties. The polyepoxide resins comprise a polyepoxide resin based on a polyglycidyl ether of a phenolic-type compound and an acrylate-terminated urethane prepolymer. The improvement in the polyepoxide resin formulation comprises incorporating a polymethylated amine curative having two secondary amine hydrogens represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkylene or polyalkylene polyamine having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms. The presence of the aliphatic amine reactive component along with the acrylate-terminated urethane prepolymer results in an epoxy resin having enhanced properties.

    Abstract: A current shunt for converting a current to a voltage. The current shunt of the invention is made from a conductive material such as a high performance resistance alloy in sheet form which is sheared, punched, and bent to produce a highly stable current shunt with respect to time and temperature. Contact pins of current and potential connections are welded to the material using a fusion welding process, and techniques are also provided for isolating the potential contacts from the current contacts so as to improve stability. Trimming slits of the type used for thin film or foil resistors are also extended to bulk materials in accordance with the invention such that highly accurate resistances may be obtained. An integral heat sink and strain relief mechanism is also provided so as to minimize the adverse effects of temperature on the resistance of the material. The resulting current shunt has an extremely stable resistance value with respect to time and temperature at a minimal cost.

    Abstract: A free floating fairing comprising an outer ring fairing, an inner ring fairing and a three piece replaceable strut fairing define an aerodynamic contour and heat shield for the turbine exhaust case of a gas turbine engine. The material fo the fairing can be selected to optimize heat transfer characteristics to enhance the structural integrity of the supporting structure while assuring the lubrication in the lubricating passages in the struts does not coke and the preload on the support rods is not lost during engine operation. The inner ring fairing serves to hold in place the nose piece of the three piece strut fairing for ease of replacement.

    Abstract: The support structure for the bearing compartment for a gas turbine engine includes eight radial tie bolts connected with the clevis wherein the outer diameter clevis is connected to the mount ring with an accessible bolt for easy assembly and disassembly. The tie bolts, while preloaded in tension, can accept compressive loads during severe loading operation conditions. The turbine exhaust case housing the tie bolts and bearing compartment are designed to facilitate cooling and maintainability at reduced costs.
