  • Patent number: 6385665
Abstract: A system and method for managing faults in a data transmission system that includes a data path for transmitting signals containing data, and a plurality of application cards located along the data path for processing the signals. The method includes the steps of detecting the occurrence of a fault of a particular type at one of a plurality of points along the data transmission path; in response, the application card generating a fault report for the purpose of identifying the cause of the detected fault; and, preventing the generation by the application card of subsequent fault reports relating to that particular type of fault until receiving a signal indicating that fault report generation may be reenabled. In the fault management system, the data transmission system also includes at least one unit controller for controlling the application cards, and at least one system manager for controlling the at least one unit controller.

  • Patent number: 6275916
Abstract: A method for managing memory in an object oriented program that is capable of using a plurality of fixed pool classes and a plurality of objects belonging to those fixed pool classes. A plurality of memory pools each having a predetermined fixed size are constructed, with each of the plurality of fixed pool classes being associated with one of the plurality of memory pools. New objects belonging to a selected one of the fixed pool classes are instantiated, with the instantiation step including the step of allocating memory for the new object from the associated memory pool. A system for managing memory in an object oriented program operating on a computer system is also provided that includes a memory pool class and a plurality of subclasses of that memory pool class, where the object oriented program is capable of using and instantiating objects belonging to the subclasses.

  • Patent number: 6266806
Abstract: A method and system for summarizing object interactions in an object-oriented software program is disclosed. A plurality of tabular inputs containing information about the object interactions in a software system are input into a computer system. The system then determines object information and interaction information from the input information and generates an object summary from the object information and interaction information. The object summary may comprise an object summary matrix indicating instances of interaction between the objects of the software program and a plurality of message summaries that indicate messages sent from and sent to a particular object of the software program.

  • Patent number: 6263458
Abstract: A method of collecting PM data in a controller acquired from a plurality of sources of PM data during a monitoring interval, including the steps of demarcating, at each source of PM data, the monitoring interval, assigning, at each source of PM data, an identity to the monitoring interval, packaging at each source of PM data, the PM data from the monitoring interval, transmitting an armed and ready message from each source of PM data to the controller, waiting, at each source of PM data, for a request from the controller for a bulk transfer of the PM data, sending the bulk transfer from each source of PM data, responsive to receipt of the request, to the controller, and resetting, at each source of PM data, a system timer for a next monitoring interval.
