  • Publication number: 20070013485
Abstract: An RFID system, such as an RFID printer system, is used to create an RFID performance profile by interrogating an RFID tag at a first position starting at a minimum RF power and increasing the RF power until a successful interrogation is obtained. The RFID tag is then moved forward into a next position and the interrogation process is repeated, starting at the minimum RF power. The process continues until the RFID tag is out of interrogation range even at a maximum RF power or some other user-defined stop point. The power level and position are stored at each position of the RFID tag during this process. The data is compiled to create a profile of the RF performance, which can then be used in a variety of ways to improve system performance.

  • Publication number: 20060208897
Abstract: In one embodiment, a capacitive encoding system is provided that includes a first conductive element; a second conductive element; and a capacitive encoder adapted to drive the first conductive element with a first RF signal and to drive the second conductive element with a second RF signal, wherein the second RF signal is out of phase with the first RF signal by a predetermined phase so as to capacitively excite an RFID tag in proximity to the first and second conductive elements.

  • Publication number: 20060127154
Abstract: An RFID label with embedded tag is passed through an RFID antenna in a printer system, where the RFID antenna allows a roll of such labels to pass in close proximity to the antenna and still allow each individual RFID tag to be read and/or programmed. The RFID antenna module is formed with a transmission line coupled to an RF phase splitter, where in one embodiment, the transmission line is formed from two parallel conductive strips.

  • Publication number: 20050276647
Abstract: An RFID label with embedded tag is passed through an RFID antenna in a printer system, where the RFID antenna allows a roll of such labels to pass in close proximity to the antenna and still allow each individual RFID tag to be read and/or programmed. The RFID antenna has a rectangular RF field spreader in contact with a triangular divergent RF conductor with an RF source point at the point. Ground planes are located on either side of the antenna. In another embodiment, the printer system extracts or parses bar code commands from a data stream and passes the commands to both a printer and an RFID reader to print the image and program the tag with the bar code information.
