Abstract: An apparatus adapted to disseminate volatile liquid into an atmosphere from a reservoir, the transfer to atmosphere being achieved by means of a porous transfer member that transfers liquid from the reservoir to an evaporation surface. The evaporation surface is a capillary sheet substantially transversely from the transfer member, and being further characterized in that the material of the sheet is a plastics material having a Shore D hardness of from around 50 to 80 and a thickness of from 0.75-1.25 mm. These sheets make especially good liquid transfer contact with the transfer member.

Abstract: An apparatus for disseminating volatile liquid such as fragrance or insecticide into an atmosphere from a reservoir, the transfer to atmosphere being at least partially achieved by means of a transfer member having external capillary channels. The volatile liquid is one in which at least 30% by weight of the materials therein have a molecular weight of 175 maximum, and which has a surface tension of less than 40 dynes/cm. The transfer member is of plastics material having a surface energy of less than 45 dyne/cm. The combination allows for particularly efficient dissemination.

Abstract: A device adapted to provide volatile liquid material to an atmosphere comprising a reservoir (1) containing volatile liquid material, a rod-like transfer member (3, 4) extending therefrom and adapted to transfer liquid from the reservoir, and at least one diffusion surface (7) adapted to receive the liquid from the transfer member and facilitate its evaporation into the atmosphere, the diffusion surface extending essentially laterally from the transfer member and comprising at least one non-integral, non-porous sheet bearing a surface capillarity (9), which sheet has an extent and a capillarity sufficient to allow an appropriate evaporation. The device is cheap and easy to construct, versatile and diffuses odour without major changes of the odour over time.

Abstract: A textile treatment delivery system adapted to impart textile conditioning composition and fragrance to a fabric while it is being dried in a heated drier, the delivery system comprising at least one textile conditioning composition and at least one fragrance in a sublimable carrier substance. The treatment is efficient and leaves virtually no residue.

Abstract: A composition for the controlled release of an essential oil having pesticidal or fungicidal activity comprises a carrier material for said essential oil and a component that controls the release of said essential oil from the carrier material.
