Publication number: 20260064239Abstract: Some implementations relate to methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer-readable media for automatic digital media placement within a virtual experience provided at a virtual experience platform. Spatial telemetry of avatars is tracked during a time window and stored in an engagement heatmap comprising three-dimensional voxels, each representing a subsection of the virtual experience. Each voxel includes a size value representing the number of avatars and an intensity value representing the magnitude of telemetry. Voxels are ranked based on size and intensity, and a target demographic and relevant subsections are identified. Digital media is automatically selected and placed at subsections associated with voxels that exceed an engagement threshold. The placement is performed outside the telemetry collection window and is configured to be viewable by avatars associated with the target demographic.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2025Publication date: March 5, 2026Applicant: Roblox CorporationInventors: Swapnil RALHAN, Richard SIM, Karun CHANNA

Patent number: 12524780Abstract: Some implementations relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for digital advertising within a virtual experience provided at a virtual experience platform. A user's avatar's viewpoint, perspective, time spent viewing, and other attributes are accurately tracked to determine an overall advertising impression. Different advertisements may be displayed to an avatar based on the avatar approaching a digital advertisement element and being within a threshold distance of the digital advertising element. Furthermore, metrics based upon user engagement may be tracked and associated with displayed advertisements.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2023Date of Patent: January 13, 2026Assignee: Roblox CorporationInventors: Richard Sim, Dmitri V. Publication number: 20250329108Abstract: Various implementations relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for presenting media within a virtual experience based on user interaction. According to one aspect, a computer-implemented method includes receiving media associated with a target demographic. A determination is made that one or more viewability criteria are satisfied based on a perspective of an avatar associated with a user relative to a digital media display element, and that a level of interest of the user meets a threshold level based on interest criteria. In response, presentation of the media is initiated by displaying video content and playing back mixed spatial audio comprising both media audio and virtual experience audio. Interactive controls are provided. User input and avatar engagement are obtained, and an engagement metric is generated based on the collected input and engagement.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2025Publication date: October 23, 2025Applicant: Roblox CorporationInventors: Richard SIM, Sari ABUKHADRA, Justin ANDERSON

Publication number: 20240394997Abstract: Some implementations relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for digital advertising within a first virtual experience provided at a virtual experience platform. A virtual user engagement portal is provided within the first virtual experience that includes a portal member configured to transport an avatar to a second virtual experience. The second virtual experience may be associated with at least one media item, and may include a plurality of virtual items, activities, and other virtual content associated with the at least one media item. A return portal may be provided within the second virtual experience to return an avatar to the first virtual experience. User engagement metrics and/or advertising metrics may be aggregated and/or computed based on avatar interactions within the second virtual experience.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2024Publication date: November 28, 2024Applicant: Roblox CorporationInventors: Enrico D'ANGELO, Richard SIM, Manuel BRONSTEIN, Dmitri V. PARKS, Sari ABUKHADRA, Gary WU

Publication number: 20240078534Abstract: Some implementations relate to methods, systems, and computer-readable media for transferring subscriptions in virtual experiences. A user account is credited with virtual currency based on a periodic subscription to a digital distribution platform. The periodic subscription is examined and two or more time periods are calculated around the periodic subscription. As the user subscribes to subscription-based virtual experiences using the user account, virtual items, and services, the credited virtual currency is earmarked and reduced. At the end of each subscription period, virtual currency payments are made to respective developer accounts associated with the subscription-based virtual experiences using the earmarked virtual currency.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Applicant: Roblox CorporationInventors: Enrico D'ANGELO, Richard SIM

Patent number: 11660542Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer-readable media are provided for fraud detection within an interactive media system such as a computer-based game. In some implementations, fraud in online subscription payments can be detected. The fraud detection can be used to adjust virtual currency revenue sharing payouts to developers associated with the computer-based game.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2021Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: Roblox CorporationInventors: Richard Sim, Dmitri Parks, David Baszucki, Connor Kelley, Hans Gunawan, Matthew Kaufman, Enrico D'Angelo

Publication number: 20120166285Abstract: A cluster of users that share a common trait may be useful to a social networking system for various purposes, such as targeting advertising. Users of a social networking system are added to a cluster based on information about each user, which may include declared profile information, user history, and/or social information. The system initially adds users to a cluster based on a selected attribute and then verifies the accuracy of the cluster by sending a poll to a subset of the users in the cluster. The poll questions test whether the users are accurately in the cluster. The system may infer a specific life event, such as a recent engagement, from other information indicative of the life event, such as messages from a user's connections related to the engagement. The system then uses the poll to verify whether the inference is accurate.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2010Publication date: June 28, 2012Inventors: Scott Shapiro, Meg Griffing Sloan, Richard Sim
