  • Publication number: 20110239670
Abstract: A method for managing access to a confined space which is cooled by the direct injection of a cryogenic fluid, comprising at least one system for closing the confined space, which can prevent access to said confined space and can be opened/closed to a variable and controllable degree, and a data acquisition and processing device. The device can: control the open or closed state of the closure system; set and control the degree to which the closure system is open/closed; ensure that a time delay (TP) is respected every time the closure system is closed, after which time delay the injection of cryogenic fluid into the space resumes; and, at the request of a user, implement the cycle for opening the closure system. The device determines the time that has elapsed (TE) in the closed position since the last closure cycle of the closure system and compares TE to TP. If TE=TP the device immediately authorizes the opening of the closure system.

  • Patent number: 6902713
Abstract: A method for partially oxidizing, in a Claus furnace, at least one gas containing hydrogen sulfide and ammonia with at least one gas rich in oxygen. The residual ammonia content at the outlet of the furnace is measured with a laser diode. Based upon this measurement, the flow rates of the ammonia containing gases and the oxygen rich gases may be modified to obtain the desired residual ammonia content.

  • Patent number: 6890498
Abstract: A gas burner for use with a Claus furnace made up of at least five concentric tubes and the spaces formed between them. The diameters of the tubes increase radially outward so that the first tube has a smaller diameter than the fifth tube. At the end of the burner closest to the furnace, the tube ends of the third, fourth, and fifth tubes lie in the same plane. The first and the second tubes are fastened together and capable of movement along the central longitudinal axis of the burner, but their ends closest the furnace are not capable of moving past the plane formed by the third, fourth, and fifth tubes. An injector is located between the first and second tubes at the end closest the furnace. The injector is oriented towards the periphery of the burner.

  • Publication number: 20040009446
Abstract: The invention concerns a Claus furnace gas burner consisting of at least five concentric tubes (T1-T5), forming five concentric gaps for introducing gas, the first tube (T1) being the tube with the smallest diameter and the fifth tube (T5) being the one with the largest diameter, wherein: the ends on the side of the Claus furnace of the third, fourth and fifth tubes are in the same plane, the two central tubes (T1, T2) are integral relative to each other and mobile along a central longitudinal axis of the burner relative to the other tubes (T3-T5), their ends on the Claus furnace side not exceeding the plane formed by the ends of the three other tubes, the gap formed between the first and second tubes (T1, T2) being terminated on the Claus furnace side by an injector oriented towards the periphery of the burner in the injecting direction of the gases into the burner.
