Light scattered by the object or scene under study is received. The received light is spectroscopically analyzed for volume elements of the object or scene under study. A respective qualitative feature of the object or scene under study is identified at least one of the volume elements. Visible light is propagated to the at least one of the volume elements according to the respective qualitative feature of the object or scene under study at the at least one of the volume elements.
