  • Patent number: 8323260
Abstract: An applicator for dispensing two separate tissue adhesives includes a generally elongate body having two distinct interior regions, each containing one of the two tissue adhesives. Hinged levers associated with each region selectively force the expulsion of the adhesive from the end portions of the applicator in response to application of force by the operator.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 16, 2011
Date of Patent: December 4, 2012
Assignee: Advanced Medical Solutions (Plymouth) Limited
    Inventor: Richard Stenton

  • Publication number: 20080046004
Abstract: An adhesive applicator for applying medical adhesives, particularly cyanoacrylates, to incisions such as those made during minimally invasive surgery. The applicator employs a pipette tip or similar narrow flow restrictor tip to close the incision and a body of foam to seal the incision. Methods of using the applicator are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070147947
Abstract: An applicator for dispensing uniform thickness layers of liquid to surfaces and especially surgical sealants to surgical sites to create, in situ, a surgical incise drape is disclosed. The applicator employs a supported thin layer of foam which achieves layer thickness which are substantially independent of the pressure applied to the applicator during use. Methods of using the applicator are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060247568
Abstract: An applicator has a reservoir adapted to contain a fluid and a pad in fluid communication with the reservoir. A tab serves to seal the fluid reservoir at a breakable connection, with breaking of the breakable connection allowing passage of fluid from the reservoir into the pad. The tab may be removable, or it may be embedded in the tab. Fluids with which use of the applicator is contemplated include sterilizable fluids for therapeutic applications to tissue, including topical liquids such as tissue adhesives for surgical applications, coatings and sealants. One candidate fluid is a cyanoacrylate prepolymer.
