  • Publication number: 20060272493
Abstract: A spacer secured to a dash panel offsets a boost unit of a brake system into an engine compartment. The spacer has a cylindrical body with a u-shaped space through which air from the engine compartment is communicated to the boost unit to effect a brake application. The u-shaped space is divided by a plurality of walls into first and second labyrinth paths around the cylindrical body. An open cell gasket is located between the boost unit and the spacer to seal the u-shaped space. Air enters the u-shaped space and is divided into equal volumes that flow around the cylindrical body to a radial opening in the cylindrical body for distribution to the boost unit. Air flowing along the first and second labyrinth paths encounters the open cell gasket and sounds generated in the engine compartment are attenuated by being absorbed prior to delivery to the boost unit.

  • Patent number: 6363861
Abstract: The invention is based on a bogie (1) for rail vehicles on which two interconnected wheel bearing housings, in which wheel axles (5) for rail wheels (2) are mounted, are articulated via an oscillating link (10). The rail wheels (2) are driven by means of laterally situated gears (11) which are accommodated in gear housings. In order to simplify the articulation of the rail wheels (2) on the bogie (1) and to reduce the multiplicity of parts, it is proposed that the gear housings (4) form one unit with their associated wheel bearing housings (4) for the wheel axles and the oscillating link (10).

  • Patent number: 5174419
Abstract: A spur gear transmission for a drive unit of an industrial truck having an integrated wet running disk brake. A first disk carrier is arranged on one of the spur gears. First braking disks are mounted on the disk carrier. A second disk carrier is fastened in the transmission housing, second braking disks being mounted on the second disk carrier, such that the first and the second braking disks are arranged alternately and cooperate. The spur gear having the first disk carrier is axially movable against the force of a spring by a pressure pin extending through the transmission housing and operable from outside, with the braking disks being pressed against one another between the spur gear and a bearing surface in the transmission housing. A two-arm lever is provided, one lever arm of which can be operated by the driver and the other lever arm of which lever rests on the pressure pin.

  • Patent number: 5048626
Abstract: A drive system for an industrial vehicle which consists substantially of an electric motor, a two-step transmission and a drive wheel and can be pivotally mounted for movement about a vertical axis in the undercarriage of the industrial vehicle. An axis of the electric motor is arranged parallel with respect to the drive wheel. The transmission can be a two-step spur gearing or a combined toothed belt and spur gearing. A swivel bearing is arranged above the drive wheel, the external race of which swivel bearing is received in the gear housing and the internal race of which swivel bearing is mounted onto a swivel pin extending downwardly from the undercarriage, the axis of said swivel pin lying at least approximately in the center rotational plane of the drive wheel, with the electric motor projecting above the area of the undercarriage having the swivel pin.

  • Patent number: 5044905
Abstract: A gear pump which includes a housing having an internally toothed gear and a pinion meshing with the internally toothed gear disposed therein. The housing has a sickle-shaped space between the two gears and has therein a filler piece. In order to avoid a fluttering of the filler piece and the noises connected therewith, structure is provided for urging the filler piece, due to pressurized oil being guided from the pressure chamber and one side of the filler piece into a bore extending through the filler piece to the opposite side of the filler piece, against the pump housing. The filler piece can also be locked in the direction of rotation by a pressure piece also loaded by the pressurized oil.

  • Patent number: 5003817
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for the testing of synchronizing devices. In contrast to a conventional apparatus, in which only one rotating transmission gear or rather its synchronizing cone cooperates with a nonrotating synchronizing ring, it is now possible to test a complete synchronizing device consisting of two transmission gears, two synchronizing rings and one gear-shift sleeve with a hub. A transmission gear is fixedly connected to a rigid frame, the other transmission gear is connected to the drive through a drive shaft. The hub with the gear-shift sleeve is coupled with a flywheel mass on the driven side. The flywheel mass on the driven side is during a first shifting operation connected to the drive and is accelerated to the driving speed for testing. The flywheel mass now rotating at the driving speed is then again delayed until standstill through the synchronizing device during a second shifting operation.

  • Patent number: 4616730
Abstract: To fasten the control chain on a drive unit of a controllable drive wheel of an industrial vehicle, a housing part is provided on the top thereof with holes which are arranged in a circle. A chain holder is placed into one of the holes, which chain holder is engaged with both the endmost bolt of one end link and also a tensioning mechanism which in turn is engaged with a further endmost bolt of another end link. Various alternate constructions are provided for the design of the chain holder and the tensioning mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4461367
Abstract: A drive train for a steerable drive wheel of a vehicle includes a spur gear stage and a bevel gear stage in a drive train housing which is supported for pivotal movement about a vertical axis. The drive wheel is driven through a horizontal axis from a vertically arranged motor. The housing is divided so that the axle-base change of the spur gear stage which is necessary when changing the drive wheel width requires different parts only for the part of the drive train housing which surrounds the spur gears. The remaining part of the drive train housing, which contains the bevel gear stage, is always the same. A slewing ring can be integral with the housing part which surrounds the spur gears. Furthermore, an opening for supplying or discharging air to or from the motor chamber can be provided.

  • Patent number: 4289223
Abstract: A shiftable friction clutch for gear drives, in which a shift collar is arranged axially movably on a carrier sleeve which is mounted on the shaft which must be coupled to a gear, and in which at least one axially movable friction ring is provided, which belongs to a first clutch half and which cooperates through clutch friction surfaces with a second clutch half and which is supported through rolling elements on the carrier sleeve for producing the contact pressure by means of pressure surfaces which are arranged on the front surfaces remote from the clutch surfaces and which are inclined with respect to the plane of rotation. The friction clutch is constructed as a spring-loaded safety clutch, in which the friction members which are pressed onto one another during the starting or engagement operation are supported against a spring.

  • Patent number: 4020934
Abstract: Double-acting hydraulic clutches. In a double-acting hydraulic clutch of the type having a pair of oppositely movable pistons for effecting engagement of clutch plates there is provided a resilient partition separating the chambers occupied by each of said pistons. Such resilient partition yields sufficiently upon the supplying to a given cylinder of energizing fluid whereby without slowing the entry of such fluid the shock of the in-rushing fluid is softened and undesired suddenness, or grab, in clutch engagement is minimized.
