  • Patent number: 4686540
Abstract: A compact plotter is disclosed, having a small area in which a plurality of print heads (10) are laterally scanned to print impressions on the paper (14), and the paper (14) is incrementally advanced by an indexer (42) past the print heads (10). A paper travel encoder (36) measures the paper advancement. A computer 22 and a processor 26 are provided to coordinate the printing of pattern data stored in a data base (24) both with the movement of the print heads (10) and the advancement of the paper (14). The computer (22) allocates data from the data base (24) to be printed according to the amount of paper advancement. If the paper (14) is advanced more than a predefined amount, more data is allocated for printing than is actually printed. If the paper (14) is advanced less than the predefined amount, less data is allocated to be printed than is actually printed.

  • Patent number: 4494743
Abstract: Automatic terminal machines for banking transactions utilize a document dispenser for delivering bank notes to a customer. The document dispenser moves the bank notes from a storage bin by means of a picker mechanism that moves along a path profile established by the configuration of a pair of cam tracks and associated cam followers. The picker mechanism includes vacuum cups for lifting the first document from a stack in the storage bin for delivery into a document transport. Connected to the vacuum cups is a vacuum/pressure supply that includes a multiple chamber cylinder that provides both vacuum and pressure synchronized with operation of the picker mechanism. The piston is pivotally mounted to enable swivel action when driving the interconnected pistons in respective chambers. When provided, the document dispenser includes a cassette having a loading door and an unloading door, each separately equipped with a locking device.

  • Patent number: 4006753
Abstract: A valve system for selective control of flow of fluids from plural sources to a common conduit. Plural valves, are aligned along the conduit at different distances from a system axis. A cam array serves to selectively force the valves against a diaphragm to close off ports leading to the conduit upon rotation about the system axis. The invention is particularly suitable for use with a pressurized ink reservoir connected to one port, an ink solvent to a second port, and a drying gas to a third port. The valve system then may be rotated sequentially for initiating an ink operation, cleansing with the ink solvent, and drying with the gas without necessitating a disassembly of the system.

  • Patent number: 3942153
Abstract: A document transport including an endless belt driven by a pair of logic controlled servo motors which precisely move a document from a feeding station through a scanning station and into a stacking station. As documents are passed through the scanning station, images of the characters thereon are projected by a scanner onto a single columnar retina. The scanner includes a single shaft which is repetitively rotated through a preselected arc by a logic controlled servo motor synchronized with the transport control system. An illumination mirror is mounted on one end of the shaft and an image mirror is mounted on the other so that illumination from a lamp is scanned across the characters to be read while the illuminated images are reflected from the image mirror onto the retina.
