  • Publication number: 20100252601
Abstract: A drywall or similar planar material cutting tool is provided that aids in the achieving of clean and square cuts with minimal debris and/or breakage to the drywall material edge. The apparatus defines a generally J-shaped engagement channel, or combinations of J-shaped channels, to engage the edge of a drywall sheet, and a centrally affixed handle located perpendicular to the bottom surface of the J-channel and generally in a parallel plane to the drywall sheet being cut. The unique configuration allows pressure applied to the handle to be uniformly transferred to the J-channel which, in turn, applies a uniformly distributed shear force. The applied force is perpendicular to the plane of the drywall sheet and, at all times, parallel to the pre-applied score mark thereby resulting in a clean snap break of the board with an improved edge quality.

  • Publication number: 20080052632
Abstract: A system for process control comprises a server digital data processor and a client digital data processor that are coupled by a network, such as the Internet or an Intranet. The server digital data processor, which is additionally coupled to a control/sensing device and any associated interface equipment (collectively, referred to as “process control apparatus”), includes a command processor that transfers information between the network and the process control apparatus. The client digital data processor includes an information client (e.g., a so-called Internet web browser) capable of requesting and receiving an applet from the server digital data processor. The information client, further, defines a hardware-independent and operating system-independent virtual machine environment within the client digital data processor.

  • Publication number: 20080052386
Abstract: The invention provides improved methods and apparatus for control using field and control devices that provide a virtual machine environment and that communicate via an IP network. By way of non-limiting example, such field device can be an “intelligent” transmitter or actuator that includes a low power processor, along with a random access memory, a read-only memory, FlashRAM, and a sensor interface. The processor can execute a real-time operating system, as well as a Java virtual machine (JVM). Java byte code executes in the JVM to configure the field device to perform typical process control functions, e.g., for proportional integral derivative (PID) control and signal conditioning. Control networks can include a plurality of such field and control devices interconnected by an IP network, such as an Ethernet.

  • Publication number: 20050189244
Abstract: A package for holding multiple media discs includes a hinged tray assembly, which includes a plurality of disc-holding trays, each tray having a hinge edge. The trays are positioned with respect to each other such that when the tray assembly is in a closed configuration, the trays are arranged in a stack with their hinge edges lined up with each other at a hinge side of the tray assembly. The trays are hinged to each other by a flexible hinge member that is affixed to the hinge edges of the trays. The package further includes a jacket, comprising a plurality of panels that fold around the tray assembly. The jacket includes an interior surface to which a bottom surface of the tray assembly is mounted, the plurality of panels folding around the tray assembly to close the package.

  • Publication number: 20030038169
Abstract: A container includes a first blank having fold lines and a series of substantially rectangular panels hingedly connected to one another at the fold lines of the first blank, and a second blank having fold lines and a series of substantially rectangular panels hingedly connected to one another at the fold lines of the second blank. The first and second blanks are adhered to one another to form a composite blank that is spirally foldable to form the double-walled container, whereby the first blank forms an inner box of the container and the second blank forms an outer box of the container that surrounds the inner box. The first blank forming the inner box may be made of a material that is different in composition and/or thickness than the material used to form the second blank forming the outer box. The first and second blanks may also be made of similar materials.
