  • Patent number: 10991481
Abstract: The present disclosure provides insulated electrical conductors, e.g., wires, and methods for producing such insulated electrical conductors to combat partial discharge by enhancing bond strength between the electrical conductor and a base insulating thermoplastic layer (e.g., including a PAEK). Such insulated electrical conductors can include: an electrical conductor; an insulating coating on at least a portion of a surface of the electrical conductor; and an oxide layer between the electrical conductor and the insulating coating. Methods for producing such insulated electrical conductors can involve extrusion of an insulating polymer onto the electrical conductor under ambient atmosphere and a subsequent heat treatment step, which can also be conducted under ambient atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 10989031
Abstract: An electric driven hydraulic fracking system is disclosed. A pump configuration that includes the single VFD, the single shaft electric motor, and the single hydraulic pump that is mounted on the single pump trailer. A power distribution trailer distributes the electric power generated by the power generation system at the power generation voltage level to the single VFD and converts the electric power at a power generation voltage level to a VFD voltage level and controls the operation of the single shaft electric motor and the single hydraulic pump. The power distribution trailer converts the electric power generated by the power generation system at the power generation level to an auxiliary voltage level that is less than the power generation voltage level. The power distribution trailer distributes the electric power at the auxiliary voltage level to the single VFD that controls an operation of the of the auxiliary systems.

  • Patent number: 10992845
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for synthesizing out of focus blurring effects in digital images. Cameras having wide aperture lenses typically capture images with a shallow depth of field (SDOF). SDOF cameras are often used in portrait photography, since they emphasize subjects, while deemphasizing the background via blurring. Simulating this kind of blurring using a large depth of field (LDOF) camera may require a large amount of computational resources, i.e., to simulate the physical effects of using a wide aperture lens, while constructing a synthetic SDOF image. Moreover, cameras having smaller lens apertures, such as those in mobile phones, may not have the ability to accurately estimate or recreate the true color of clipped background light sources. Described herein are techniques to synthesize out of focus background blurring effects that attempt to reproduce accurate light intensity and color values for clipped background light sources in images captured by LDOF cameras.

  • Patent number: 10988228
Abstract: Aspects of the technology relate to temperature regulation for high altitude, long duration balloons, such as balloons that operate in the stratosphere for weeks, months or longer. A balloon covering overlays the balloon envelope. The material properties and configuration of the balloon covering are selected to enable it to automatically cover or expose portions of the envelope depending on environmental conditions. The covering has multiple layers of materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE). The layers are chosen to have significantly different CTEs, and flaps are created in the envelope such that depending on the temperature, the flaps will either lie flat on the envelope or curl away from the envelope. In the former case, the flaps help to retain heat in the envelope, such as during nighttime operation. Conversely, in the latter case, the flaps permit heat to escape from the envelope, such as during daytime operation.
