  • Patent number: 8391698
Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing Z-buffer generation in a camera are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment the method may comprise exposing a plurality of pixels on an image capture device to a modulated light signal reflected from different regions of a scene adjacent a camera after different delays. The method may also comprise correlating intensity of the modulated light signal received by the image capture device for each the different delays to determine a flight time of the modulated light signal. The method may also comprise generating a Z-buffer corresponding to the different regions of the scene based on the correlation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 28, 2005
Date of Patent: March 5, 2013
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Richard Turley, Andrew C. Goris, David Branson, David R. Lawson, Donald J. Stavely, David K. Campbell
  • Patent number: 7983548
Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing Z-buffer generation in a camera are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment the method may comprise actuating a light sensor after various delays to receive a plurality of modulated light signals reflected from different regions of a scene adjacent a camera. The method may also include determining distance information for the different regions of the scene based on brightness values for the plurality of modulated light signals reflected from the scene for the various delays. The method may also include storing the distance information in a Z-buffer at the camera.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 28, 2005
Date of Patent: July 19, 2011
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Richard Turley, David Branson, Andrew C. Goris, David R. Lawson, Donald J. Stavely
  • Patent number: 7667765
Abstract: The shutter of a digital imaging device may be calibrated by comparing a characteristic of two separate exposures obtained from a single field of the device's imaging sensor during a single exposure cycle. Calibrating the shutter in this manner facilitates the accuracy of even very short exposure times.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 17, 2005
Date of Patent: February 23, 2010
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Richard Turley, Dan L. Dalton, Daniel M. Bloom, Gregory V. Hofer, Casey L. Miller, Scott A. Woods
  • Patent number: 7538794
Abstract: A digital imaging device having a CCD sensor array with one or more fields captures both short and long exposures of a particular field during the capture of a single image frame. The short-exposure image data and the long-exposure image data from the particular field may be correlated to estimate motion within the image frame.

  • Publication number: 20060129338
Abstract: A method for reducing the consequences and risks of failure in a hydrocarbon pipeline system includes identifying specific segments of pipelines the leakage of which could have an adverse impact on environment or safety, particularly in areas of high consequence, developing a baseline assessment plan for such segments by analyzing information including age, corrosion, and types of seams and joints and then establishing preventive and migitative measures including, where necessary, positioning emergency flow restricting devices in one or more pipeline segments.
