  • Publication number: 20140105511
Abstract: According to one embodiment, the present invention includes a method for numerically encoding and representing data that includes providing a representation of data and separating the representation into a scale header and an additional precision packet. Separating the representation includes identifying the location of the highest-order non-zero bit and encoding the location of the highest-order non-zero bit to form the scale header. The balance of the bits following the highest-order non-zero bit, or a truncated set of these bits, is encoded to form the additional precision packet, and a matched representation space (MRS) representation is composed of the paired data structures of a scale header and a corresponding additional precision packet, if any.

  • Patent number: 8340378
Abstract: A technique for segmenting a ribcage, e.g., in a chest radiograph, may involve determining whether or not the top of the image cuts through the lungs. The process may then proceed to segment the top and the sides of the ribcage. A dynamic programming technique may be used to perform the segmentation.

  • Publication number: 20100266188
Abstract: Images may be registered by performing a number of operations that may include coarse alignment, coarse registration, and fine registration. The finely-registered images may be subtracted to obtain a residual image.

  • Publication number: 20100098305
Abstract: A technique for registering multiple image representations relating to a common region of interest may involve producing multiple displacements from the image representations for a key point. A final displacement for the key point may be determined from correlations of the multiple displacements.

  • Publication number: 20090060366
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may process an input image using phase symmetry methods and use the resulting processing results to determine an object in the image. The object may be suppressed, if desired.
