  • Patent number: 4827755
Abstract: A tube bender having a swivel connection of the handle to the shoe for facilitating readjustment of the handle in providing tube bends of greater than 90.degree., while avoiding crossover of the tube handle with the mandrel handle. The shoe handle includes a cylindrical extension rotatably received in a socket in the shoe and structure is provided for automatically disposing the handle in either of preselected dispositions. The extension is caused to be disposed in an overcenter arrangement in the preselected dispositions so as to cause forces generated on the shoe handle during the bending operation to more firmly lock the handle in the preselected disposition. A friction washer is provided for biasing the shoe handle to provide releasable retention thereof in the preselected positions.

  • Patent number: 4813260
Abstract: A tube working tool having a pair of jaws each provided with a single semicylindrical tube receiving recess. The tool includes a yoke defining a pair of spaced jaw supports and a carrier support spaced from and centered betwen the jaw supports. A carrier is threadedly mounted to the carrier support and provided with any one of a plurality of different tube working heads at its lower end for working the end of a tube retained by a pair of clamping jaws carried on the jaw supports. The clamping jaws are clamped against a back wall of the yoke by a pair of screws extending through the jaws at opposite sides of the tube clamping recesses. Cooperating structure is provided on the inboard jaw and jaw support for retaining the inboard jaw against displacement.

  • Patent number: 4458719
Abstract: A service connection including a first coupler adapter mounted to a service hose end fitting and a second coupler adapter mounted to a service fitting. In the illustrated embodiment, the adapters are threadedly connected to the hose end fitting and service fitting, respectively, and are provided with structure for effecting a quick connection between the adapters and, thus, between the service hose and service fitting. In one embodiment, the hose fitting adapter defines a rectilinear through passage, and in another embodiment, the hose fitting adapter defines a right angle turn flow passage. The hose fitting adapter is provided, in the illustrated embodiment, with a core depressor for engaging an opening in the core valve of the service fitting upon sealed connection of the adapters. The hose fitting adapter may be provided with a shutoff valve which is adapted to be opened by the engagement of the core depressor thereof with the core valve of the service fitting.

  • Patent number: 4213216
Abstract: A service tool structure for effecting improved, simplified removal and installation of end fitting gaskets, adjustment of the adjustable valve depressor, and storage of spare gaskets and depressor elements. The tool structure is arranged to provide a partial installation of the gasket in the hose coupling with a first projection portion thereof and a completion of the installation of the gasket therein by a second projection portion thereof. The first projection portion may be further arranged to define structure for effecting adjustment of the valve depressor, the gasket being arranged to fit coaxially about the valve depressor adjusting structure. A threaded third projection portion of the tool structure is arranged to be threaded into the installed gasket so as to provide a sufficiently secure connection thereto to permit withdrawal of the gasket from the hose coupling as in replacement of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 4109536
Abstract: A fluid test device having a manifold formed of elements machined from rod stock for high accuracy. The manifold defines open end portions to which are sealingly secured a pair of manifold valves having front operated handles. The manifold includes a threaded hanger recess for mounting of the device to a hanger or housing. The manifold and attached valves may be disposed within a snap-on cover having a back portion coplanar with the gauges connected to the valves to provide a stable, flat back surface to the device. The cover may be snapped on to protect the brazed connection after all of the testing of the device is completed. The valves and manifold are arranged to have a coplanar surface to provide automatic alignment relative to a common plane, permitting facilitated brazing of the valves to the manifold connectors.

  • Patent number: 4092865
Abstract: An improved fluid-test apparatus having a plurality of hose connectors one of which is made to provide a flow capacity at least substantially equal to the cumulative flow capacity of a plurality of others of such connectors. The disclosed apparatus includes valves associated with each of the respective connectors, and in the illustrated embodiment, four such connectors and valves are provided. Gauges are further associated with the apparatus to have fluid communication with a manifold chamber within the apparatus body. At least one of the valves for controlling the hose connections to the manifold chamber may also be used for controlling theconnection of the gauge to the manifold chamber. At least one of the gauges may have continuous fluid communication with at least one of the hose connections at all times.

  • Patent number: 4017057
Abstract: A fluid coupling having an improved adjustable valve core depressor for effecting the opening of a normally closed valve in a connector portion of the coupling as a result of the connection of the connector portion to a body portion of the coupling in making up the fitting. The depressor is threadedly mounted to the coupling body and is provided with a locking portion adjustably retaining the depressor in adjusted position for improved controlled depressing of the connector valve in the make-up of the fitting.

  • Patent number: 3965572
Abstract: A manually operable tool, such as a tube cutter, having a working element carried on a carrier adjustably positioned on a mounting element. An improved arrangement of threaded advancing structure and selectively positionable pawl structure is provided to permit automatic release of the pawl at opposite ends of travel of the carrier for facilitated use of the tool. Automatic release of the pawl is effected by means of the provision of spaces at the opposite ends of the carrier thread permitting a biasing spring to reposition the pawl suitably for quick, nonthreading reverse movement.
