  • Patent number: 9612593
Abstract: Example methods and apparatus are provided for configuring a process control device. An example method includes implementing a first configuration at the process control device based on a first configuration request. The example method includes setting a configuration flag. The configuration flag indicates the first configuration is being implemented. The example method includes denying a second configuration request while the configuration flag is set.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 2013
Date of Patent: April 4, 2017
    Assignee: BRISTOL, INC.
    Inventors: Scott Szurek, Richard Vanderah

  • Publication number: 20060164296
Abstract: Determining a hierarchical structure, possibly for delivery to an asset management system. Some exemplary embodiments may be a method comprising receiving a message originated by a data acquisition system and destined for a remote process controller (the receiving by a message router), using content of the message to determine a hierarchical structure of a system between the data acquisition system and the remote process controller, forwarding the message by the message router, and passing information related to the hierarchical structure to an asset management system.

  • Publication number: 20060168396
Abstract: Systems and methods for communicating data from field devices to data acquisition systems. In at least some exemplary embodiments, a remote process or field controller may obtain data, and send the data to a data cache only if the data has changed from previously sent data. The data acquisition system may poll the data cache for data. Having the remote process controller send only data that has changed allows the communication channel between the data caching system and the remote process controller to have a bandwidth or throughput lower than what may be needed to support the polling of the data acquisition system.

  • Publication number: 20050120806
Abstract: A high resolution pulse count interface is situated between a positive displacement (PD) meter and a flow computer. A magnetic wheel attaches to the PD meter, with the interface using Hall Effect sensors to detect the rotation of the wheel. A pulse prediction algorithm and weighting algorithms are used to improve resolution for the flow computer to enable real time flow rate calculations.
