  • Patent number: 7118168
Abstract: A chassis for a motor vehicle comprises two lateral longitudinal members. The following elements extend between these members and are affixed to them: the front and rear floor parts; a cross member known as the heel board cross member having upper and lower longitudinal sides which are fixed to the front and rear floor parts, respectively; and a cross member, having a length approximately equal to that of the heel board cross member, which extends underneath the lower longitudinal side of the heel board cross member and is affixed to it. Each of the ends of the cross member is fixed to one of the lateral longitudinal members. The invention also relates to station wagon-type motor vehicle having such a chassis.

  • Patent number: 6874844
Abstract: The body of a notchback motor vehicle, having at the rear, a rear load floor to which are fixed two lateral members each having a wheel housing and a lateral quarter pillar forming one part of one side of the passenger compartment. The two lateral quarter pillars are held together at the top by a cross member known as the rear window cross member, which supports the roof. Stiffening at least one lateral member in such a way as to transfer the forces exerted on the bottom of the body when the vehicle is moving directly to the upper cross member having a panel stiffener which is joined to the lateral quarter pillar and which exerts from the rear window lower cross member to the rear window upper cross member.

  • Publication number: 20040174048
Abstract: The invention relates to the body (1) of a notchback motor vehicle comprising, at the rear, a rear load floor (6) to which are fixed two lateral members (2) each comprising a wheel housing (7) and a lateral quarter pillar (3) forming one part of one side of the passenger compartment. The two lateral quarter pillars (2) are held together at the top thereof by means of a cross-member (19) known as the rear window upper cross-member which is designed to support the roof. The inventive vehicle also comprises means (11,15,16,17) for stiffening at least one lateral member in such a way as to transfer the forces exerted on the bottom of said body (1a) when the vehicle is moving directly to the upper cross-mcmber. According to the invention, the stiffening means comprise a panel stiffener (15) which is joined to the lateral quarter pillar and which extends from the rear window lower cross-member (5) to the rear window upper cross-member.
