    Abstract: The invention provides compositions for improving the appearance of used textiles which contains a photoactivator and a fluorescent whitening agent which is a distyrylbiphenylsulfonic acid or a salt thereof and/or a 4,4'-bis-(1,2,3-triazol-2-yl)-2,2'-stilbenesulfonic acid or a salt thereof. The invention also provides soaking, detergent or rinsing liquors containing such compositions as well as a method of improving the appearance of used textiles which comprises the use of the compositions and liquors of the invention.
