  • Patent number: 7703801
Abstract: A vehicle safety device includes a seat mounted within a passenger compartment of a vehicle and a seat position adjusting mechanism that allows the seat to move along an axis between a forward-most position and a rearward-most position. An air-bag is mounted within the passenger compartment in front of the forward-most position. In the forward-most position a distance between a passenger seated in the seat and the air-bag is equal to a minimum safe clearance. A method of maintaining a minimum safe clearance between an air-bag mounted in a vehicle and a vehicle passenger includes preventing motion of a seat toward the air-bag beyond a forward-most position, and providing a position adjusting mechanism for at least one vehicle control pedal to allow a passenger to adjust a distance between the seat and the at least one pedal seat positioning system may be used to position a passenger.

  • Patent number: 7364186
Abstract: A vehicle safety device includes a seat mounted within a passenger compartment of the vehicle, in which the seat is movably connected to a vehicle frame by a seat position adjusting mechanism that allows the seat to move along an axis between a forward-most position and a rearward-most position. An air-bag is mounted within the passenger compartment in front of the forward-most position of the seat, with the forward-most position of the seat defined as a position of the seat in which a distance between a passenger seated in the seat and the air-bag is equal to a minimum safe clearance.

  • Patent number: 4554635
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for creating, laying out and cutting patterns on laminar sheet material having particular application to air handling ducting which permits the fully automated creation of the patterns required to subsequently construct three-dimensional products such as fittings, which have heretofore only been designed by skilled technicians. Information representative of the geometric configurations of a group of basic pattern types, including mathematical relationships, is stored in digital form in a memory. From the basic pattern types, substantially all variations of the three-dimensional product can be developed. An operator specifies the type of fitting required and inputs selected actual basic dimensions of the product, the basic dimensions being those dimensions necessary to specify the overall dimensions of the product.

  • Patent number: 4551810
Abstract: A method and apparatus for partially automatically designing a conduit network and automatically producing patterns for cutting out the sides of conduit sections from laminar material. The CAD-CAM system eliminates the detailing of fittings and other components of a heating and ventilating system, pattern type and dimensional data being fed directly, i.e., without human intervention, from a memory in a CAD system to a CAM pattern generating and fabricating system. The patterns for the closed sides of the conduit network are developed from mathematical relationships specifying the geometry of basic pattern types.
