    Abstract: A method and system (10) for managing and assisting with shipment of hazardous materials from a source location to a destination location. Shipment data (72) containing information about the goods is obtained. Geographic positioning data about the location of the goods as they travel from the starting location to the distribution location is obtained. Geographic positioning data is used to select near real-time weather data (88) related to the location of the goods. The shipment is monitored to detect an emergency condition. A recommended response to potential and the detected emergency condition are calculated.
