Patent number: 12220512Abstract: Plasma/cell concentrator apparatus and methods are described herein for concentrating constituents from a fluid. Generally, a volume of the fluid may be urged from a first reservoir to a second reservoir through a fluid channel and a volume of desiccant for mixing with the fluid may be introduced to create a mixture. This fluid and desiccant mixture may be passed between the first and second reservoirs until one or more components from the fluid are absorbed by the desiccant. After mixing, the fluid may be withdrawn through a withdrawal channel which is in fluid communication with the fluid channel while preventing the desiccant from passing into the withdrawal channel.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2021Date of Patent: February 11, 2025Assignee: Hanuman Pelican, Inc.Inventors: Randy Dorian, Michael D. Leach, Richard W. Storrs

Patent number: 8950586Abstract: A platelet collection device comprising a centrifugal spin-separator container with a cavity having a longitudinal inner surface. A float in the cavity has a base, a platelet collection surface above the base, an outer surface. The float density is below the density of erythrocytes and above the density of plasma. The platelet collection surface has a position on the float which places it below the level of platelets when the float is suspended in separated blood. During centrifugation, a layer of platelets or buffy coat collects closely adjacent the platelet collection surface. Movement of a float having a density greater than whole blood through the sedimenting erythrocytes releases entrapped platelets, increasing the platelet yield.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2013Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: Hanuman LLCInventors: Randel Dorian, Richard W.
