  • Publication number: 20060167735
Abstract: A method and system for managing customer service processes for individual customers and populations of customers. In a specific embodiment within the health care field, a clinician creates or updates a draft care plan for a patient using generic or locally-adapted template metadata and tailors the draft care plan to the particular patient. The draft care plan includes a list of specific services (health care interventions) to be provided to the patient. The draft care plan can be routed to members of an inter-disciplinary team for input. Once finalized, workflow processes are instantiated for each intervention on the care plan. An itinerary is created for any required patient encounters, optimized using an algorithm that considers pre-existing process instances. A workflow automation server manages the execution of each workflow process instance, invoking resources according to workflow process specification metadata and workflow task type metadata.

  • Publication number: 20060161554
Abstract: A schema-based service for Internet access to per-user services data, wherein access to data is based on each user's identity. The service includes a schema that defines rules and a structure for each user's data, and also includes methods that provide access to the data in a defined way. The services schema thus corresponds to a logical document containing the data for each user. The user manipulates (e.g., reads or writes) data in the logical document by data access requests through defined methods. In one implementation, the services schemas are arranged as XML documents, and the services provide methods that control access to the data based on the requesting user's identification, defined role and scope for that role. In this way, data can be accessed by its owner, and shared to an extent determined by the owner.

  • Publication number: 20060076526
Abstract: An anodic sacrificial seal element is installed at vulnerable regions of a blowout preventer. A zinc cylinder, for example, is included at the well-bore pressure side of a bonnet which seals around a rod as it extends through a bonnet which joins an actuator to the body of the BOP. Similarly, a zinc O-ring may be used in a seal groove provided between the bonnet and the body of the BOP. In this way, the high electropotential of the material from which the additional seal element is made is oxidized first, before any attack on the BOP material, thereby increasing the time period between maintenance events on the BOP.

  • Publication number: 20050163247
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an isolation barrier comprises a transformer and a controlled impedance module. The system side device generates an amplitude modulated clock signal when the system side device is in a transmit mode, and generates an unmodulated clock signal when the system side device is in a receive mode. When the system side device is in the receive mode, the controlled impedance module modulates, according to the data being transmitted by the line side device, the unmodulated clock signal incoming from the system side device. The transformer is utilized in bidirectional data transfer to provide the line side device with the amplitude modulated clock signal generated by the system side device, while providing the system side device with the amplitude modulated clock signal generated by the controlled impedance module and the line side device.
