  • Publication number: 20040231128
Abstract: A tool for reattaching a leader pin assembly to the data tape of a data tape cartridge utilizes a base that snaps onto the cartridge body. The tool opens the door of the cartridge and the loose leader tape inside the cartridge is laid in an alignment channel. A leader pin is inserted into a set of receptacles over the tape, and a clip is inserted into a pocket within an arm on the tool. The tape is then folded and pulled down over the leader pin and held in the alignment channel with a finger of the user. The arm of the tool, which retains the clip, is then pivoted from a disengaged position to an engaged position. The clip snaps over a center section of the leader pin and the folded tape to form a leader pin assembly, thereby securing the tape in the leader pin assembly.

  • Publication number: 20040164557
Abstract: This invention improves the performance and lowers the cost of DC to AC inverters and the systems where these inverters are used. The performance enhancements are most valuable in renewable and distributed energy applications where high power conversion efficiencies are critical. The invention allows a variety of DC sources to provide power thru the inverter to the utility grid without a transformer and at very high power conversion efficiencies. The enabling technology is a novel inverter circuit topology where the DC source is connected directly to the positive bus of the DC to AC converter and where a negative bus is generated from the positive bus with a flyback converter. The inverter power topology does include or require a transformer. The AC inverter output configuration can be either single-phase or three-phase. The AC inverter output can be either utility interactive or directly supply loads.

  • Publication number: 20040150905
Abstract: A method and apparatus to monitor the positioning of a tape leader pin in a tape threader block moveably disposed in a tape drive. The' apparatus includes a tape threader block assembly comprising a first circuit having a first coil, a second circuit having a second coil, where that second circuit has an impedance, where the first coil is disposed adjacent the second coil. The apparatus further includes a detection circuit which detects the impedance of the second circuit, where the second circuit has a first impedance when the first circuit is open, and where the second circuit has a second impedance when the second circuit is closed. In the event a tape leader pin is properly releaseably fixtured to Applicants' threader block, the first circuit is closed and the impedance of the second circuit changes. The detection circuit detects that impedance change and provides a signal to a controller indicating that the tape leader pin is properly seated in the threader block.

  • Publication number: 20040148052
Abstract: A hazardous materials shipping system for tracking a plurality of packages containing hazardous materials. The shipping system includes a shipment order system configured to record shipping and hazardous materials information, and to issue a tracking number for the package. A package tracking system tracks a path of the package through various delivery vehicles and other facilities. Information on the hazardous materials can be correlated with the delivery path of the package by a hazardous materials database system using the tracking number. Optionally, the hazardous materials database system can make the delivery path and hazardous materials information available to an emergency response team to facilitate containment and cleanup of hazardous materials along the path. As another advantage, the hazardous materials database system can compare the paths of various packages to determine if cross-contamination has occurred.

  • Patent number: 5776655
Abstract: A peel-developable lithographic printing plate is comprised of a substrate, a hydrophilic layer comprising a polymeric acid overlying the substrate, a radiation-sensitive image-forming layer overlying the hydrophilic layer and a stripping layer that is strippably adhered to the image-forming layer. The image-forming layer is comprised of a photo-polymerizable composition comprising a polymeric binder, a plurality of addition-polymerizable ethylenically-unsaturated compounds at least one of which possesses phosphorus-derived acidic functionality and a photopolymerization initiator. After imagewise exposure of the plate to activating radiation, the stripping layer is peeled from the image-forming layer with only the unexposed regions of the image-forming layer adhering thereto so as to reveal the underlying hydrophilic layer and thereby form a lithographic printing surface.
