  • Patent number: 10048123
Abstract: An electronic device including a component and a light circuit structured to detect light. The light circuit is structured to output a detection signal in response to detecting light and the detection signal is used to wake up or communicate with the component.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 8, 2015
Date of Patent: August 14, 2018
    Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITED
Inventors: Gregg James Haensgen, James Derek Formea, Andrew John Sowada, Richard William Lucas, Kyle Heiden, Denis Sterjo
  • Publication number: 20160204484
Abstract: An energy storage device heating system includes an energy storage device, a power supply structured to generate a source of harvested energy by harvesting energy from a power source, a heater disposed proximate to the energy storage device and structured to use the harvested energy to generate heat, a charging unit structured to use the harvested energy to charge the energy storage device, a selection circuit structured to selectively electrically connect the source of harvested energy to the charging unit or the heater, and a control unit including a selection control module structured to control the selection circuit to switch between electrically connecting the source of harvested energy to the charging unit and electrically connecting the source of harvested energy to the heater.

  • Patent number: 9379556
Abstract: A harvesting and measurement device is operable in at least a normal operation mode, a demand measurement mode, and a fault measurement mode. In the normal operation mode, the device is able to harvest energy from an associated power line and monitor current and voltage conditions through a lower power circuit. In the demand measurement mode, harvesting elements of the circuit are disabled so as not to interfere with accuracy of demand current measurements. In the fault measurement mode, one or more Hall sensors are activated such that high currents can be accurately measured.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 28, 2016
    Assignee: COOPER TECHNOLOGIES COMPANY

  • Patent number: 9166405
Abstract: A method, device, and system for controlling power delivered to a power-consuming device. The device can harvest power from a conductor carrying a high voltage using a power harvesting device. The device can include a power storage device to power a hardware processor and a communication component when there is no voltage flowing through the conductor. The device can determine when a control event is to occur. At such time, the device terminates control power delivered to the power-consuming device and continues to withhold the control power until the control event expires. When the control event has ended, the device allows control power to flow to the power-consuming device. The device uses a timer and the communication component to send and receives signals associated with a control event to a user. The device can also operate in a limited mode to conserve power when the device is not in use.
