  • Publication number: 20160012181
Abstract: The present invention is a method for assigning a qualitative importance of relevant genetic phenotypes to the use of specific drugs for individual patients based on genetic test results. The invention provides a drug-centric integration of pharmacogenetic test information across multiple genes relevant to an individual drug. The invention then assigns a color designation for each drug reported and groups the drugs together on a report according to drug class/therapeutic area, thus allowing the physician to easily and quickly identify a drug from a specific drug class that would be best for that patient according to their entire pharmacogenetic test results. The outputs of the method can be added to existing pharmacogenetic test reports as a quick guide for the physician. Such integration of pharmacogenetic information from multiple genes and drug-centric organization of the outputs should allow physicians to more easily utilize and incorporate pharmacogenetic testing into their practice.

  • Patent number: 7378986
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for radio-based issuing of warnings of hazards to the driver of a vehicle having a data receiver, the data receiver receives data from at least one data transmitter of at least one other vehicle, and evaluates the received data. The received data comprising information about the position, speed and direction of travel of the transmitting vehicle. The approach speed between the receiving vehicle and transmitting vehicle are determined in order to evaluate the received data in the receiving vehicle. According to the invention, in order to evaluate the received data in the receiving vehicle, the distance between the transmitting vehicle and the receiving vehicle is determined, and it is determined whether information is output to the driver, based on the distance between the transmitting vehicle and receiving vehicle, and based on the approach speed between the transmitting vehicle and receiving vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20070083316
Abstract: In a method for changing the acceleration mode of a motor vehicle, the driver can change from a normal acceleration mode into a rapid acceleration mode to increase the supply of air and fuel. The change into the rapid acceleration mode is carried out if the driver exceeds a pedal-speed threshold value when activating the accelerator pedal.

  • Publication number: 20070016354
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining a friction coefficient value (F?) which represents the coefficient of friction present between the underlying surface and a vehicle tire. For this purpose, a wheel slip value (?ij) is determined for at least one vehicle wheel, said value (?ij) describing the wheel slip present at this vehicle wheel. The friction coefficient value (F?) is determined as a function of this wheel slip value (?ij). For this purpose, during a predefined operating state of the vehicle wheel slip values (?ij) are determined at various times, in particular successive times. The frequency distribution of values is determined for these wheel slip values (?ij) or for axle-related slip values (?VA and ?HA) which are determined as a function of these wheel slip values (?ij). The friction coefficient value (F?) is determined by evaluating this frequency distribution of values.

  • Publication number: 20060229812
Abstract: In a radio-based device for issuing hazard warnings to the driver of a vehicle a data receiver situated on board the vehicle receives hazard data from a data transmitter of at least one other vehicle, and evaluates the received data in a computer unit. The received data includes information about the position, speed and direction of travel of the transmitting vehicle. According to the invention, from the received data of the transmitting vehicle and from information relating to the position, speed and direction of travel data of the receiving vehicle, a relevance measure is determined in the receiving vehicle, which relates to whether the transmitting vehicle is located on a section of road lying ahead of the receiving vehicle. A chronological profile of the relevance measure is determined by repeatedly determining the relevance measure.

  • Publication number: 20050261851
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for determining the curvature of a curve passing through a plurality of points, the shape of which is defined by a line connecting these points, curvature is assigned to the individual points by determining the position of adjacent points relative to the individual points. The curvature of a point (B) is determined by further taking into account two additional points (A, C), one of which (A) lies on the connecting line forward of the respective point (B) and the other (C) on the connecting line behind the respective point (B). The points (A, C) are determined such that they are as remote as possible from the respective point (B) and, at the same time, no points exist which lie between the respective point (B) and one of the additional points (A, C), and which are farther than a set distance from the connecting lines between the respective point (B) and each of the two additional points (A, C).

  • Patent number: 6926374
Abstract: An automatic brake and steering system and method for a vehicle contains a sensor unit for sensing vehicle state and characteristic variables, and ambient conditions. Furthermore, a control unit and actuator devices are provided for setting the vehicle brake system and/or the vehicle steering system. In order to be able to carry out automatic avoidance maneuvers with maximum safety, an avoidance route is determined if there is an obstacle in the path of the vehicle. Thereby, if there is a further obstacle on the avoidance route, the strategy for determining the avoidance route is applied once more. If it is not possible to find a collision-free avoidance route, that route on which the difference between the remaining braking distance and the remaining distance from the obstacle is smallest is selected.

  • Publication number: 20050027596
Abstract: A system and method for directing consumer traffic over the Internet properties of affiliated content providers and vendors increases traffic over affiliated sites by embedding a foreign object within those properties, and encouraging consumers to search for that object. Consumers register with the marketing solutions provider in order to become eligible to participate in the object search game. Content providers and vendors also register in order to become part of the said system that directs consumers to various Internet properties. Such an affiliate has their account credited once a consumer has been successfully directed to that affiliated property. The consumer has his or her account credited after successfully finding the object resident on that affiliate's property.

  • Publication number: 20040069761
Abstract: An electrically operated heating device such as an electric blanket, mattress pad, heating pad or throw, includes a power supply, a controller and a heating member that can be selectively engaged and disengaged with each other, to provide a modular construction. The controller and the power supply can be used with different types of heating members, to provide manufacturing efficiencies and to reduce assembly steps. The controller and the heating member can also be engaged with an adapter which is configured for engagement with a power source associated with a vehicle, such as a cigarette lighter-type power source. In this manner, the pliable heating member and the controller can be used with either a stationary power source or with a power source associated with a vehicle.
