The attachment section has a gate with open and closed positions. The housing section typically is affixed to a portable article. To couple the portable article to another thing, the attachment section is at least partially extended from the housing section and the gate is opened. The attachment section is then engaged with the other thing and the gate is closed. The attachment section is then at least partially retracted into the housing section.
